The Reception

After the church ceremony Franco and Amelia left to the studio to have their photos taken, while they were there the rest of the family was headed back to the hall. Time to greet the guest, because this was an Italian and a Mexican wedding we decided to cook the food ourselves well, Letty and I, we spent 2 days cooking and laughing, my mother for the life of her could not even cook if she tried, so she spent time with us in the kitchen, laughing at times we would start dancing, while the food was cooking, we also talked about what the guest would think about the food that we would cook, food that they were not too familiar with, if they were then they more than likely to have paid high price for it. Letty and I decided to make Berria ( type of Mexican  goat stew), Mole ( meat in red sauce non spicy) and tamales with Mexican rice, my mother ordered the Italian food that would be also served, but she wanted it to be a surprise knowing my mother it will be the best food.

While we went into the hall to wait for the bride and groom to arrive we greeted the guests that arrived, but I was so nervous and praying I would not have to see Alonzo, I was dreading having to be one of the greeters. I was also happy that John, Fernando, Maria and Jacob would be present.

I spoke to Fernando last night. I asked him to please pose as my boyfriend in case Alonzo showed up and tried to approach me, since Fernando was still single he gladly agreed.

Franco and Amelia have arrived from the photo studio, they are sitting together at their special table, guest have started to walk in, I am currently speaking to the waiters to please make sure everyone is well served and taken care of. suddenly, just as I'm walking towards the entrance, I see the Rugetti family.

Mr. and Mrs. Rugetti are in front, then I see Mario my face lights up of course but, I almost pass out when I see the arrogant Alonzo, he walking behind his parents, now took steps ahead and is now besides Mario. I see them and turn around to walk away when, Mario suddenly calls my name and I freeze, he walks to me and stands in front of me, and asks so how are you beautiful? I blush beet red, his parents are right in front of me. his father stuns me by greeting me with, "Hello Lucia how have you been? Where have you been? We missed you". I hope you are still single because, I hope you remember what we spoke about, the last Christmas Eve we spent together? I act dumb and reply sorry, I don't recall, he looks at Mario, then Mario smiles and replies, well since you were never really married to my brother. now we can get married!

I was so stunned, my jaw almost hit the ground, I felt so embarrassed, Mario on the other hand smiles at me, gets close to me, and gives me a kiss on the cheek, my legs feel weak,  my face is so red that my it almost looks purple, then I see Alonzo he looks really angry. he is looking at Mario like he wants to beat him up, so I look at Mario and say well if I was single, I would marry you but, I am already taken, right on que Fernando shows up and grabs a hold of my right hand, asks me your ready baby? I excuse myself and walk away with Fernando, I can see Maria, Jacob and Johns faces all laughing so hard, yet manage to throw me a thumbs up.

Dinner all goes well everyone is happy, watching my brother Franco and Amelia look so happy, we watch as the food Letty and I cooked being devoured by the guests, it's really pleasing, I hear Mr. Rugetti come up to my mom asks her, Who made the Mexican food? they would love to go eat at that restaurant. my mom says sorry, it's home cooked by my daughter, Lucia and Letty, our new in-law, he smiles and looks at me and asks me if I can possibly make some food for them later? I smile tell him know, I will.. (inside I'm really saying hell no). But have to be polite.

The bride and groom song comes on, I look at my brother Franco, he looks at Amelia with so much love as they walk towards the dance floor, I ask Letty so, what song did they decide on? Letty says it's and old love song, it's tender and beautiful. Letty looks to Amelia with such tenderness, I wish I had that when I got married. the Music starts and I remember this song. I remember how the song. it's Lyrics brought tears to my eyes.
