She ran as fast as her legs could carry her. The trees were a mere green blur around her. She could not dare a glance back. The only recurring thought in her mind was to get as far away as possible from the ferocious black beast. She remembered meeting a pair of scarlet eyes and then next thing she knows is that her flight instincts kicked in. Her head felt dizzy, her feet were unstable on the uneven ground. She ran flat over the twigs and stones. Praying with all her might to not fall. Elaine was never much of a runner. Hell, she hardly remembered running more than five minutes, that too on a flat racing track. And with that she stumbled over a twig, regaining her balance before smacking straight into a green rock.
'Shit!' she cried, she had to be dreaming.
She stared into a pair of golden and brown eyes before her knees failed her. With a faint cry Elaine fell to the ground. The first thing she registered after attaining consciousness was the branch digging in her back. Before she realized or mentally complained about her extremely uncomfortable posture, Elaine heard fierce growls and snarls. Opening her eyes she hastily hoisted herself in a sitting posture only to witness two massive bodies lashing at each other. She recognized one of them as the black beast that was chasing her. The other was a midnight blue one. As she stood up to flee, she again met those eyes. And there was an almost pleading look in the animal's eyes, the animal now trapped by the black beast. Ignoring the irrational stinging pain spreading within her she turned around and ran. She ran as far away as she could from this insane evening; Planning on never looking back again.
