Elaine stood at the balcony, her hands resting on the railing as she leaned in and stared at the street beneath, looking at nothing in particular. Elaine looked like a terrible beauty, standing in the dark night alone and vulnerable as the chill night air blew against her. Moving her shoulder length brown curls around and making her full and pink lower lip tremble. Elaine however, did not mind the cold. It made her feel numb from outside which was better than feeling pain inside. Atleast, this way she knew the cause of her misery. So, she stood there and thought, she thought long and hard as the tears found their way to her rosy cheeks and below. Falling all the while. Her face was paler than usual. Elaine felt week and stupid for letting her guard down again.

It didn't hurt her that Neill was with the Blonde, what hurt her so much was that she cared a little too much about it. That she wanted to be there, instead of that Blonde.

Behind her lay 2 abandoned mugs of coffee and a developed picture of Ian. Where he was smiling, with the football trophy in his hand. Elaine had stared at it for a long while, after which she had conversed with it. She liked talking to Ian, even if he wasn't there to listen.

Elaine smiled bitterly, atleast she knew she'd feel better tomorrow, after so much of crying. She wished Maire was here, but Maire had ditched her. She knew it was immature of her to be upset at Maire. Maire had had a life for crying out loud.

Suddenly, Elaine's door bell rang. The sound startled her. She glanced at the watch to find that it was 11pm. Cautiously, she made her way to the door. Upon opening it, she confronted Neill. He had a perfect frame and a muscular build which didn't ovewwhelm his appearence but made it pleasant. His hazel brown eyes were sparkling mischievously. His jet black hair fell over his eyes, making him look hot as ever.

His face dropped by a little when he saw that Elaine had been crying. He quickly got over it as he was here to make it better.

'Well, invite me in already!' he commanded.

Elaine raised an eyebrow. 'Really? I thought you didn't need invitations.'

Neill chuckled and stepped inside. Elaine quickly stepped back. She was feeling comfortable as hell all of a sudden, but she could not be close to Neill again. It turned her world around and she couldn't think straight.

'Aw, I don't bite', said Neill observing her retreat.

'Why are you here?' asked Elaine doubtfully eyeing the bag in Neill's hands.

'Oh, your new friend has come for a night stay at your place!' announced Neill.

Elaine laughed. 'Okay, now seriously, why are you here?'

'I already told you. We'll have a fun night.' he added winking.

Had it been any other guy, Elaine would have given him a disgusted look and kicked him out. This one however, sent butterflies fluttering in her stomach.

'Well, you can't', she said confidently. 'I just have one bedroom and no spare beds. I'm not used to uninvited guests. I don't have family. And when Maire stays over, she sleeps in my bed.'

'Brilliant, then that's what we'll do', said Neill, giving Elaine a full blown smile.

A blush crept up her cheeks.

'I'm not sharing a bed with you', she said awkwardly.

'Fine, then we'll just have to hang around and have fun. We won't sleep at all tonight.'

'Are you insane?' Elaine finally voiced the question that had been bugging her for a while.

'This is a kick ass sleep over plan. Why would I not be sane?'
