Today, it's been exactly 3 months since Ian left. After numerous breakdowns, being in the illusion of getting over him and falling for him all over again, Elaine has learnt to live with it. Although, there still is a burning hope within her heart that she will see him again. Last night, after Elaine's close escape from the beasts, she came back, wrote her diary, cried over Ian and generally had a pity party. Today, she felt better, she observed as she burried her face into her pillow. She always felt better after a good night of crying.
Elaine got up and made her way lazily to the kitchen checking her watch on the way. It was 45 minutes to school, and she planned to make the most of them. She rarely felt this happy now. After making herself a huge mug of coffee she made her way to the balcony. She stood there sipping the wonderful treat as she reflected to the times she used to be happy. Utterly, unconditionally happy. She used to run around being crazy, not giving a damn about the world. Elaine lived in her own world with her wonderful and equally crazy friends. Everything was still the same, except the fact that after every moment of joy, she managed to ruin it by shedding tears. Tears that this moment was lived without Ian.
Elaine was a strong girl, she hardly cried. But since the transformation she went through after falling for Ian, she had become somewhat of a cry baby. Although her friends understood and always thought of ways to make it better, she was still pissed off at herself for being such a weak person. But at times, she just couldn't help it.
Her musings were bought to an end when her phone started ringing from inside her bedroom. She quickly made her way inside to talk to a super pissed Maire.
'What the fucking hell is wrong with you? I've been honking for three minutes straight now Elaine! Why can't you fucking open the door? Just because I drive you to school doesn't mean you take advantage of me. Get your ass out here right now!'
Elaine's eyes shot straight to the watch. Brilliant, she should really time her thinking sessions. She timidly spoke into the phone waiting for another outburst.
'Listen Maire, wait for 5 minutes and I'll be right there, right?'
She heard Maire sigh. 'You slept over time didn't you? You just woke up when I called!' she accused.
Elaine let it slip. 'I'll be right there, okay?'
'Well no. Open your gate, I'm coming in and dressing you for school today. That's your punishment for sleeping in and making your utterly precious, beautiful and absolutely amazing friend wait!'
Elaine groaned out loud. 'Not today Maire, we're already running late.'
'Open the stupid gate Elaine', growled Maire with a fierce finality in her voice. Great, so much for a peaceful Monday morning.
Elaine was strictly an 'I don't care if I look like shit' person, while Maire was an entirely 'everything goes your way if you are groomed and dressed up' girl.
Unwillingly, Elaine walked an opened the door. Just the day she was planning on walking into school with her comfortable as hell night suit, this had to happen.
'I am not putting that black thing on my eye!' Elaine exclaimed attempting to get up.
'No!' Maire said forcing her down onto the chair, 'you will put this on Elaine!'
'But I'll look like a fucking serial killer you jerk. I put this shit on the play night, remember?' Elaine yelled.
'Thats because you chose to put it on with your wonderfully sophisticated hands in artistic strokes', she shot back, not letting go of Elaine's arm all the while.
