"Your place caught fire, Elaine." Neill repeated.

"I figured," she said coldly, "I was there."

"Where are you going?"

"That's my problem."

"You're dressed in a hospital gown, Elaine!"

"I know Neill. I'm not blind."

"You're not blind, you're impossible. You can't walk down the streets like that."

"I'll get a cab!" Elaine shrieked.

"You don't have money," Neill pointed out.

Elaine opened her mouth and closed it again.

"At least let me drop you to Maire's." Neill tried reasoning.

"No!" Elaine said stubbornly. She then walked over towards Neill. Neill immediately froze as her hand crept into his jeans pocket. On its way her hand brushed his thigh. Neill's hands formed in fists and his eyes turned black.

He was not only immensely turned on, but also caught off guard.

Elaine without knowing what she was doing to him, withdrew his wallet and extracted a hand full of bills from it. She stuck her tongue out at Neill who was still very stiff, tossed the wallet on the chair and picking up her journal, she happily walked out, leaving behind Neill; stunned as ever.

Elaine gave the bills to the cab driver and then instructed him to go to Maire's. She got off at Maire's place and rang the doorbell. When Maire opened the door, she looked edgy.

"Discharged," Elaine beamed making her way into Maire's house.

Maire held her hand up, "You can't come in," Maire said.

"What?" Elaine asked, confused.

"I'm really sorry Elaine, it’s okay if you don't forgive me. I'll understand. Please. Sorry. You can't stay with me. I know you'll hate me. You have every right to. I'm sorry. Bye," and with that the door was slammed on Elaine's face by her best friend.

Elaine was annoyed beyond measure. She couldn't help but feel hurt too. Without thinking what she would do next, she just turned around and walked, wishing she had stolen more money off Neill. Well, it wasn't exactly stealing, but he deserved it anyway.

He deserved to be tortured, actually, Elaine thought. For being too hot. For unraveling all sanity from Elaine just by his closure. And for being with that blonde. And he deserved to be slapped for not kissing her today. Jerk.

She continued walking, and because she was mentally too busy punishing Neill for being so good, she accidentally walked into someone.

"Sorry," she mumbled, stepping away.

But before she had moved, the guy quickly held her wrist and slammed her against a wall, her journal fell on the road.

She looked up at the person who held her and cringed her nose in disgust. He looked about thirty, was covered in mud and his dirty blond hair seemed as though they had never seen a hair brush. One or two of his teeth were missing . He was grinning foolishly.

"Let go!" Elaine struggled.

He slammed his body against hers; trapping her between the wall and himself. He then tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

"I don't think so," he said smirking.

He ran a hand across her waist and breathed heavily into her face. The gravity of the situation suddenly hit Elaine. She was going to be raped or kidnapped and no one would come looking for her. No one would save her.
