A/N--This is all going on as Tyler is out at the boarder, so Claire knows of nothing from the previous Chapter that was in Tyler's POV. Just to help with the confusion.
"Now it is just a waiting game then. We need to keep the children calm and entertained." Layla shakes her head up and down, acknowledging my words, but she does not seem to be here in the present with me completely. I watch her a little more to see her hands are shaking, her normal bubbly personality is nowhere to be seen. "Are you okay?"
"It worries me, Nathan being out there fighting the rogues with Tyler. I hate not being able to help them." Layla shakes her head slightly.
"Layla you are helping them by being here. You are helping because your making sure the children and others are kept safe." I rub her arm.
"Aren't I the one supposed to be calming you down?" Layla chokes out, looking at me.
"You are just fine Layla. Am I worried? Yes I am but I also know Nathan and Tyler are strong they will be okay. It is my responsibility to be here protecting, helping the rest of you." I pull her in to hug her tight, so she knows it is all okay.
"You are a wonderful Luna Claire." Layla whispers. Pulling out of the hug she walks toward the living room where the others are staying.
A few of the other ladies are making snacks for the children. Walking into the kitchen I join in helping prepare the food. My mind is wondering how Tyler and Nathan are doing. It's been only thirty minutes since Tyler left. Thirty minutes of pure silence from the warriors, so not hearing anything I am hoping that is a good sign.
Between the ladies and myself, we carry the platters of food to where everyone is and serve the snacks. As the children eat, I look around to see the younger ones are starting to get heavy eyes.
Going over to the closet to pull down the blankets, Layla comes over and loads up her arms. We walk around gently giving each child a blanket and letting some of them snuggle in together to share one.
Looking up to see the older children are off in the corner playing board and card games quietly. Giving them a quick smile, as a content feeling is coming from some of the teenage girls. I notice the boys are watching the girls, eyes sweep over the little ones sleeping, and stealing glances at the windows.
From here it seems as if they are guarding from the inside. My heart melts and burst with pride at these young men, it will not be much longer and they will be starting their training.
Knowing that everyone is content and safe for now, I turn and start picking up the plates that lay around on the floor and tables. A older lady comes up with a trash can in hands and follows behind me as I pick up the scraps.
It does not take long before everything is clean not only in the living room but the kitchen as well. Stepping back up to the doorway of the living room it seems so peaceful. Even some of the teenage girls are sleeping next to the younger children on the floor. The boys have move to where they are standing within arms length around the room in a protective manner.
