Something is up with Claire. She is quiet the entire walk up to the office. Nathan and Alastair both follow us closely.
We make our way into the office. I sit at my desk, while Claire pulls a chair up next to me. Nathan stands off to the side of the desk. With Alastair taking the chair directly in front of me.
"May I speak freely?" Alastair questions.
"The room is completely sound proof, if that is what you mean." I reply, my suspensions rising.
"Thank you for that Alpha." Alastair bows his head head.
"Did something happen in the kitchen? Since you both came back from placing the dish, it seems off." I finally just ask, looking at Alastair and Claire.
Claire's breathing hitches. "I don't believe anything is wrong. I am just a little confused is all."
"On?" Nathan beats me to the punch.
"She doesn't know." Alastair gives a very short reply. "Please tell me if I am out of place here. From the short time of being out of the cells, it is clear no one truly knows. It seems all wolves are running around blind to the fact the answer is clear under nose."
Is this supposed to be a riddle? Niko questions. It is honestly making me wonder the same.
"I can see I have lost you have Alpha and Beta as well." Alastair takes in a deep breath of air. "Let me get honesty out, yes?"
"By all means, please do explain." I say, trying to keep my emotions at bay. Anger is starting to creep up at him knowing something we do not.
"These dreams I have been having shows me who I need to protect and swear myself too. As dark days are on the horizon for every supernatural creature on this planet." Alastair starts.
My anger is quickly wipe clean and worry takes place. Oh no! He couldn't mean.
"There was a reason I was pulled to follow you the other night Alpha." Alastair brings his gaze to mine. "You brought me to the one I have been looking for."
I can only watch frozen in place, as his gaze shifts to Claire.
It clicks for me. "She is the reason. That is why you have been standing close by."
Alastair nods his head. "This is true, yes. I must protect you, Luna."
Alastair stands from the chair. He kneels down in front of the desk, facing Claire. "I, Alastair Star, hereby declare my loyalty to Luna Claire of the Dark River pack. Until the day of my last breath, may I be at your service and follow your every command."
I know my eyes are popping out of my eye sockets. I am an Alpha but have never seen this before. That is not even the oath a wolf takes when entering a new pack.
Looking over to Claire, she is completely pale and holding her breath.
"What is the moon's name is going on? I am still lost as a goose on the loose!" Nathan exclaims, throwing his arms above his head.
"The truth about our Luna has come to light, Beta." Alastair raises himself up off the floor.
"No. Not my sister. There is no way on this universe it is her." Nathan shakes his head the entire time. "You just done this whole pledge to her, but yet she does not have the gene of a wolf. My baby sister has never even shifted."
"Steve. Has he ever got back to you on your families lineage?" I ask, looking directly at Nathan.
"No, last I checked he was trying to find the records. There was only a hundred years then the rest is gone." He answers.
"What does this mean." Claire finally speaks up, shaking.
"You dear Luna, are the One." Alastair speaks calmly towards Claire.
Claire seems to be stuck in place. There is no movement from her, not even an eye twitch.
"Claire, I really need you to breath for me baby." I place my hand on her arm, causing her to jump.
Claire bolts from her seat, making the rest of us jump. She starts pacing the floor next to the couch. Mumbling "no" the entire time. All I can do is stare, watching my mate.
Why haven't I ever looked into her family line myself? There is times it seems like she spaces out. Her eyes get brighter at times, but never changing colors. Not all the signs are there though, that she may even have a wolf hidden. Nathan and her both have talked about her having blood work done when she was younger, but the wolf gene was not there. How can all of this be?
Do something. Find out later! Mate needs us now. Niko whimpers.
I walk over to her and wrap my arms around her. Claire crumbles in my embrace, and starts crying. "I need you to breath, baby."
My words fall deaf on her ears. I can feel her shaking and just how fast her heart beat is. I have no time to get any further words out as she goes slack in my arms.
Nathan and Alastiar both rush over, as I move her body around to hold better. I place her on the couch, holding her hand.
"Where is a bathing room? I will grab her a cool cloth." Alastair stands behind me.
"I got it." Nathan says, taking off out the door.
I sit on the floor rubbing her hand. Alastair bends down next to me.
"Do you need me to find a doctor, Alpha?" He asks me.
"No, she just fainted. I had her, so she didn't hit her head. Thank you Alastair." I do not thank very many people, but I can tell he is true to his word.
Alastair nods his head, just as Nathan comes back in. I watch as his places the rag over Claire's forehead and sits in the chair across from us.
"No one must know about anything we just spoke about. Not until we know more." I let command seep out with each word, not meaning too.
