Xiao walked through the gravel path under his feet, the sound of small rocks getting kicked around as he walked closer to his destination. It was raining, once again. Maybe the clouds were feeling down too?

He carried his umbrella close to him then stopped right in front of his destination.

"Drop dead gorgeous huh, Ganyu..." Xiao mumbled.

There right in front of him, laid the grave. The cold, drenched stone grave. The name 'Ganyu' plastered largely onto it with the date of her birth right to her date of death. Only 19 years apart.

flashback to the hospital

Xiao was shaking violently, he was pushed out of the room along with his blonde friend. He could see the doctors taking her to the emergency room, rapidly trying to help the girl's heart. 

Not even 20 minutes later, a doctor exited the room, a look of pure disparu and sadness plastered on his face as he spoke his next words.

"She didn't make it..."

Those words made Xiao's eyes widened, almost as if they were going to pop out of his sockets. Before he could even think for himself, he took hold of the doctor's coat collar, punching him straight across the face. "You... you're lying! Ganyu promised to never leave me! You saved her! Now stop with these jokes!"

"S-sir... i'm sorry but we couldn't"

Xiao raised his fist to punch him again but someone latched onto his arm. Xiao glanced down at who it was and saw Aether, hot streams of tears falling down his face. "Stop it Xiao... she's gone." Xiao lowered his arm shakily and felt tears prickling at the corners of his eyes. Aether pulled him into a hug, tears beginning to pour out more rapidly.

"I'm sorry, Xiao."

Xiao laid down on his bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. His eyes were puffy and red from all the tears, his eyes dead from any light. He was pale, very pale. He hadn't gone to school in days, weeks even. He just laid in bed all day, not even bothering to eat much since it made him feel sick to even stand up. His phone was filled with hundreds of notifications, some people offering to visit him and bring him things but he ended up not answering at all. Zhongli had tried to come into his house to talk to him but Xiao refused to even open the door. Even Aether tried but was only left with the silence of the whole home.

Today was no different, Xiao sat against the wall, staring into the darkness of his room. He had glanced at his phone once and then decided to pick it up. His eyes felt tired, so very tired. He hadn't had a wink of sleep in a long time, the shining light form his cellular device didn't help him either. When he opened it, one thing stood out upon the hundreds of red icons on his phone. A voice message sent from Ganyu two weeks ago. Xiao shakily reached his thumb to the notification, clicking on it and opening the message:

'Oh, Xiao sorry! You weren't answering your phone so this was the only way for me to make sure you see this. The roads are very busy right now so i'm not sure i'll make it home on time! If you and Aether would like, you could go home to our house and prepare something small. I've bought you both gifts from the festival earlier! It's a matching bracelet set and I left it on your dorm room mail box. If anything happened between the two of you, let me know! Just don't get too attached that you forget about your sister now, oh! I have to go now. Bye, I love you"
