Two weeks went by and the Raghav Rao mansion was full with things for the nursery. Today was the day they were going to find out the gender of the baby. The house was filled with excitement. It was decorated in blue and pink from top to bottom. Raghav made sure to go all out on the decorations after all, the baby is a Rao. Hence, it deserves the best of the best. Today was the gender reveal party.

As per usual, Raghav waited for Pallavi to get ready as they then proceeded down the stairs together. It had become part of their daily routine by now. Pallavi sat down with Amma as they waited for the rest of the family to arrive whilst Raghav frantically walked here and there making sure everything was perfect.

"Raghav, come down. It all looks great." Said Pallavi chuckling at her husband.

"Key word, great. It needs to be perfect sweetheart. Don't worry about me, I'm fine.... I'm fine."

Pallavi looked at her mother in law who was staring at her amusingly.

"I have never seen him so worked up about something before." Said Amma

"I don't know what's gotten into him Amma, he was fine in the morning, but know he's running around like a lunatic."

Pallavi was worried at her husband's behaviour. She knew something was bothering him. So she did what she had to do to get his attention.

"Ahhhh, it hurts." She screamed out in pain.

"Pallavi, what happened are you okay?" Asking a worried Raghav as he rushed by her side.

"Me? What's wrong with me? I'm completely fine." She said acting oblivious.

"Saree ka dukaan, what is this? You were just screaming out in pain and now you're saying you're fine. Are you sure you're okay? Should I cancel the party? Do you want me to take you to the doctor?" He said frantically.

" Raghav... Raghav, I promise you I'm fine, you don't need to cancel the party. I just pretended to be in pain so I can have your attention." She said amusingly

"Pallavi that's not done, I genuinely thought you were in pain. If you wanted my attention you could've just told me." He said slightly irritated

"Acha Sorry" she said pouting as she held her ears.

Raghav couldn't stay mad at that face, I mean who could.

" Raghav what happened, I've noticed for some time that you're not yourself today. You seem anxious about something. You can tell me, you know that right?" She said sweetly placing her hand on his.

" I'm sorry Pallavi, I didn't mean to make you worried. It's just, it's all hitting me that this is actually happening. Today is the gender reveal of our child. If we have a girl, what if she won't consider me as her hero. And if we were to have a boy, I'm scared that I'll fuck something up that will make him not look up to me as his role model anymore. I'm scared that I won't be able to be the best father due to the mistakes I've made in life. What if my child thinks I'm a horrible person. I can't let that happen. I don't want my child to feel as though they've lost their father. Because I know how it feels like not to have your father around, to aid and guide you. I'm scared Pallavi, I'm scared. I want everything to be perfect. Even though he or she isn't in this world yet. I want to make sure everything about today is perfect so in the future our child will know that their father didn't stop at anything to make it all perfect." He said letting out silent sobs as he placed his head on her lap.

Pallavi's heart broke. To see Raghav like this made herself let out a tear. She ran her fingers through his hair in attempt to calm him down. It hurt her to know that Raghav didn't believe in himself.
