We're going to have a singing lesson today! Yay!

In singing, you have what's called your range: the lowest note you can hit to the highest note you can hit. There's also what I like to call your comfort zone, which is a little inside those parameters.

When you're asked to sing a note that's above your comfort zone, it can be difficult to hit. But strangely enough, a lot of the reason WHY it's hard to hit is because your brain is saying "oh, I'm not comfortable there, I can't hit that note, it won't sound good," and then you unintentionally tense up and it makes the note harder to hit. But, if you think "I got this note, easy," then you'll be more relaxed, therefore making the note easier to hit.

Of course it's not QUITE that simple. You have to change your subconscious mentality as well as your conscious. But think about it is the first step.

This can be applied to our lives. If there's a goal you want to reach, and you think, "that's impossible, I can't possibly do that," you're going to unintentionally create barriers for yourself. But, if you relax and tell yourself "yes, I can do this," it will actually make the goal easier to achieve.

But you can't just think it; you have to believe it.
