A/N: I don't own Smallville or any characters and places in the DC universe. Nor do I own the episodes that these chapters are based on and contained from.

I also don't claim to be a writer. My inspiration is simply to get a creative outlet going.

I only own Tyla Nevin and what pertains to her character story.

Lex gripped the edges of the steering wheel as he approached the long winding road towards the Meyers farm. He insisted on taking the Nevin girls in his Maserati so he could hold some semblance of normalcy on his end but all in all, he wasn't sure what to expect from this family affair. Although his own family gatherings had consisted of him and his father for a very long time, according to his girlfriend, the Nevins were quite the opposite. As well, they were a large family which threw Lex off. This wasn't a Luthor luxury. Unless they pertained to business or the array of manipulative games that he and his father played, it was rather non-existent. The last family dinner that he had was when his mother was still alive. Even still, his father wasn't exactly present. He glanced over to Tyla sitting in the passenger seat, who clutched the bag of gifts on her lap, then at the rear-view mirror, watching the young Ana chatting to her sister about how awesome it was to be in a luxury car. How could these two not feel nervous about his presence with their family?

Pulling up to the driveway, he heard a bunch of dogs barking. He clutched the stick shift with white knuckles and mechanically brought the car around to park. Almost instantly, the teenager unbuckled her seat belt and jumped out of the car. The car was still moving! "Ana!" Tyla shouted. "You couldn't wait for five seconds?"

"Nope!" The girl yelled back, running towards the lit house, and leaving the car door wide open.

The blonde groaned and put her hand over her forehead before she unbuckled her seatbelt. She struggled as she turned towards the backseat. She shifted the gifts to her side and pulled at the handle of the door to close it. With a large thud, she slid back to the front then looked back at Lex.

The man was still frozen, staring forward into the darkness of the fields. He could barely make out the rows of grape trees up ahead where Fae had decided to make wine for Smallville. "Lex?" His girlfriend snapped him back to the present. "Relax, it's just my mother."

"And your little brother, uncles, aunts, and cousins," he continued. He turned to look at her. "I was just getting used to your sister."

Tyla laughed softly. "Then you know the worst is over," she joked. Not that her sister was awful, but she was a handful. She strove on being reckless after all where Tyla was much more calculating. "Lex, they're going to love you. It's going to be fine." Lex gave her a lingering look. "I promise. Do you want to come up with a safe word if things get out of control?" She smirked and he looked at her, defeated.

"No...although now, I am regretting the Maserati." He unlocked his door and pushed the door open. The luxury car may come off as flashy. The surrounding cars were either rental sedans or pickup trucks. He half-expected to see the Kents. After all, this was a small town.

As he stepped out and slammed the door, five dogs ran out of the house followed by a tiny calico cat. He leaned back against the car as a blue merle Australian Shepherd moved towards him and sniffed him. As soon as she realized that he had been here before, the dog sat in front of him, expecting a pat on the head. Lex looked up as Fae Meyers pick up the cat and call the dogs back, but a red merle dog sped towards Tyla and jumped into her arms.

"Ah, Sydney!" She exclaimed as she almost dropped the bag. Lex moved to take the bag that threatened to fall from her hands and chuckled as the excitable dog started licking the woman's neck and chin. "Alright, alright, enough."
