A/N: I don't own Smallville or any characters and places in the DC universe. Nor do I own the episodes that these chapters are based on and contained from.

I also don't claim to be a writer. My inspiration is simply to get a creative outlet going.

I only own Tyla Nevin and what pertains to her character story.

The doors swung open, and a woman sauntered in.  It was none other than the mother of Jason Teague, Genevieve Teague. She was an imposing-looking woman with her red hair, tied up in some high bun. It was expected with her standing as a descendent of a duchess. Her high-cut features on her face suggested that she was a beautiful young woman back then. A fact that did not spoil as she seemed to be someone who still used seduction if needed.

Somehow Lex wasn't the least bit surprised. This was perhaps the third time that she had come to the mansion, all with some false idea of who he was. She was a reminder of what circle his father would keep. Clad in a long white fox fur coat and black Gucci pumps, it was clear that she was a woman of means and had the same ambition of power that the Luthors had. "Genevieve," he greeted, feigning shock. "What a surprise! If you're looking for Jason, I sent him to Metropolis on a business errand." He walked forward, meeting her in the middle of the room.

"Actually, I came here to see you, Lex."

"Oh, I didn't realize we had any more business to discuss." This was a slight lie. If it was truly a business meeting, she would have scheduled it with Tyla, or even back in Metropolis with Mercy. However, she was standing before him with an air of entitlement. No, the look in this older woman's eyes was almost of pleasure. He motioned towards the cart near his desk as if he knew exactly what she was getting at. "Drink?" He waited for her nod before slowly backing away to the cart. He didn't turn her back towards her. No, there was something predatory about her and he couldn't quite place it.

"I take it my son has proven to be a good hire," Genevieve started to say, taking in a long look at Lex before turning towards the couch and removing her coat. She tossed it along the back and watched as Lex poured the decanter over a pair of glasses.

"Excellent," he praised as he poured the whiskey. "My assistant has told me that he's asserted himself to the job quite well. He's taken a real passion for the project I've given him"

"I gather this project does not require him to relocate out of Smallville."

"Highly doubtful," Lex countered. He walked over and handed her the drink. "You should have kept an eye on him when he worked for you." Clinking her glass, he took a quick drink and revelled in the annoyance that danced across her eyes.

"It is not an error I usually make," she murmured, taking a sip of her own drink. She gave a wry laugh and walked towards Lex's desk. "Seems that headstrong young men have become my blind spot. First Jason, and now, you."

It took every fiber of his being to not raise his voice. "You asked me to give Jason a position at LuthorCorp," he said, sternly. If he were to be honest, Tyla wasn't about hiring him in the first place. Upon his meeting with Human Resources, the resume was forwarded to her, and she couldn't find a place for him. And she was damned if he would put her in the legal department. She didn't want to set foot in there, not for a long while. It was only because Lex was her boss that she had to try to find something for Jason to be some sort of assistant, some position that makes even the slightest sense in Luthor standards. "I'm not sure I understand your problem."

"You know exactly why I wanted you to hire Jason," the redhead pointed out. "To get him away from Lana Lang. But instead, you decide to co-opt him for your own purposes."
