A heavy ribbon of pressure wrapped around your head and ran down your neck. You twisted and turned under the blanket on Clyde's bed. The one thing you knew was you were in Clyde's bed. You would know that soft smell of wood with hints of whiskey and that warm comforting feel anywhere. By now you had the memory of his bed ingrained into your mind. However, this time you couldn't quite remember how you got there.
Your eyes flitted open as the subtleness of the shifting seasons sun peeked through his windows. Your head turned to look to his side of the bed, no Clyde. Rolling over you noticed a little piece of ripped paper next to a glass of water. Sluggishly you roll over and pinch the little paper bringing it close to your eyes. A smile curled on your lips as you read Clyde's handwriting.
Rest easy Sunshine. Get up when you're ready. You might want these.
You looked over again and saw two painkillers next to the freshly filled glass of water. Leaning over you replaced the note with the pills tossing them in your mouth and grabbing the glass. The water felt so nice going down moistening your throat after the night of drinking you had.
Finishing the glass you laid there for a moment trying to remember the night before. Images and moments flash in your mind. Sylvia, Mellie, and you laughing, dancing, drinking, and singing. Then it gets a little mushy. You remembered getting dropped off then struggling with your tights and Clyde taking care of you. A few words rang in your head.
"Why didn't you kiss me?"
"Did you want me too?"
"Without a doubt, Sunshine."
"My Song?"
"Yeah the one I wrote about you."You rubbed your head trying to wrap your mind around the fact you told Clyde about the song. It wasn't anything really just thoughts you had put together. How could I let that slip. He probably thinks I'm crazy now! Oh god did I scare him off? It was nothing you really meant to share, just something that you had to get out of your head and now he knew. Shit, he knew.
Taking a few more minutes you laid there mustering some energy to get up. You threw your legs over the side of the bed and started to carefully step through to the bathroom. After using the restroom and brushing your teeth you decided to find Clyde. Walking through the living room and kitchen he wasn't there. You thought for a moment and knew exactly where he was.
Clyde had laid in bed and watched you sleep peacefully for a while. He carefully brushed a few pieces of hair out of your eyes and traced his thumb across your cheek. Clyde loved having you there. It just reminded him of what he had been missing out on in life. You had unknowingly sparked so much pure happiness in his life he didn't know what to do with it.
After a while he got up and gave you new water, medicine, and a note. He went on and went through his routine of the day trying to be quiet to make sure you got the sleep you needed it. He came through to check on you and you were still out peacefully, making him smile to himself. Clyde grabbed his current book and found a spot to read on the front porch.
Quietly you pulled the front door open and looked over towards the bench. Clyde leaned back completely focused on his book. The sun warmed everything up while the breeze blew coolly through. You just stood there for a minute taking in the view of the beautiful hills in front of him. He heard you but didn't look your way instead he just called you over.
"Come on over Sunshine," his tone was soft and enticing.
You walked over pulling the end of his t-shirt down your naked legs as the cool air hit. Your hand ran across his broad shoulders, "Hi."
