AN: In this chapter we are going to pretend that Kacey Musgraves didn't write her Golden Hour album. With that being said I want to give her all the credit for her amazing songwriting skills and thank her for the inspiration of her music for this story. Y/N shares the song she's been writing and I'm no songwriter, so thanks again Kacey! I hope you all enjoy this chapter. Also Happy New Years hope everyone had a Happy Holidays! Love, Liz ❤️

"A little more to the left Jenny!" you point out the direction as you try to assist her with hanging a Christmas wreath in the diner.

"Like this?"

"Yes, Perfect!" you smile as it all comes together.

"It looks great in here Sunshine." Clyde said smoothly as he inched next to you. His hand finding its place on the low of your back.

"You think so?" you glanced up at him to catch the truth.

"Of course. It's very festive." he grinned as he started to lean in.

"Excuse me, can I get some more coffee over here?" an old impatient voice chirped from a side booth.

You gave Clyde an apologetic smile as you whispered, "It's the purple lady. I'll be right back."

He nodded and watched you hurry over and grab the pot of coffee and greet the purple lady with a kind smile.

"I'm sorry for the wait. Here you go. Do you need any creamer or anything?" you ask kindly with a nice cheerfulness.

"No, I'm fine, but I do have a question to ask." she answered quickly with a slight rudeness behind her words.

"Uh yes ma'am, ask away?" you hear the diner door ding in the background.

"Your kin to Dolly aren't you dear?"

"Yes ma'am she's my Great Aunt. Helped raise me." you smiled while you shared that meaningful fact about your aunt.

"I thought you resembled her. See I've known her for quite sometime now living in this little town you get to know people."

You went to say something when you heard a voice come up behind you, "Morning Ladybug. Nice to see you Purple Lady." You sighed in relief. You loved Dolly's perfect timing.

"How's my sweet niece treating you?" Dolly quickly hopped in saving you from the conversation.

The purple lady pursed her lips, "Oh just fine. She's a good little worker bee. I've also seen how close she's gettin' to the Logan's."

Her little comment sparked something in you. Dolly placed her hand on your arm to ground you, "and what's the problem with that?"

You watched the expression change quickly across the purple lady's face realizing Dolly's resilience. She straightened herself up in the booth, eyes glancing around. Her voice was an obvious loud whisper, "I'd be careful Dolly. I wouldn't want any of my granddaughters hanging around any of those unlucky Logans. He's done time in county."

Your chest was filled with angry anxiety fluttering around confused by what she was saying. You knew Clyde had a past but the specifics were not discussed. It wasn't something you felt you needed to be concerned about, but now that someone was bringing it up should you be? However, Clyde never gave you any reason to have to be worried about the details. You trusted him, but did he know that?

Dolly was quick to chime in not wanting to give her another moment to say something else she shouldn't. "Oh Bless your heart for sticking your nose somewhere it wasn't needed. Have a good day purple lady, good to see you."
