It was a sunny day in New Boston, but the mood wasn't the same. For three days now, America had been in flames. What was left of MegaCorp was fighting each other for control of the country and already five million people had died! The military was at war with the Corpos and other corporations had taken advantage of the chaos by selling weapons to both sides. Even though it had not been declared, it was official to the people of America....The Second American Civil War had begun. The leaders of the F.D.L, American Avengers, Continental American Militia and the Governors of the New England States were having an emergency meeting in New Boston to formulate their plan on how to win the war and what to do in order to minimise the death toll. At the Old North Church a stage was set up and over fifty thousand people were gathered around the church. Marcus Libertad and the rest of the High Council were on the stage with the Governors of the New England States and were awaiting the arrival of the other two resistance groups. Marcus was sat next to Eivor and asked his green haired friend "When do you think they'll arrive?" That was when they saw two convoys of military vehicles appear at the driveway, one flying the flag of the Continental American Militia and the other the flag of the American Avengers. The people cheered as General Preston Garvington exited the lead truck of the first convoy. He was wearing a minutemen uniform with a bullet proof vest underneath. He was an African American man and Massachusetts born. He had a scar across his left cheek from the Militia's first major victory at the battle of Fort Sumpter four years prior, but he wore it with a strange sense of pride. Acknowledging the sacrifices he made to save America from Corporate Fascism. Colonel Joe Amerigo stepped out of the lead truck of the first convoy as well and the people could easily see his brown hair and blue eyes. The two rebel leaders and their lieutenants marched onto the stage. Both leaders shook hands with Marcus Libertad himself as they go on the stage. As they sat down in their seats, Marcus got to the microphone and said "To symbolise the American Avengers and Continental American Militia's first ever visit to our fair city, we will be playing the anthems of both groups and then the anthem of the Freedom Democracy League". The crowd cheered as the music began to play on the speakers. The Continental American Militia leaders and soldiers got up and sang the anthem with pride.
"O say can you see, by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming, Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight O'er the ramparts we watch'd were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket's red glare, the bomb bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there, O say does that star-spangled banner yet waveO'er the land of the free and the home of the brave? On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep, As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam, In full glory reflected now shines in the stream,'Tis the star-spangled banner - O long may it waveO'er the land of the free and the home of the brave! And where is that band who so vauntingly swore, That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion home and a Country should leave us no more? Their blood has wash'd out their foul footstep's pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave, And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth waveO'er the land of the free and the home of the brave. O thus be it ever when freemen shall stand Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation! Blest with vict'ry and peace may the heav'n rescued land Praise the power that hath made and preserv'd us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto - "In God is our trust, "And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall waveO'er the land of the free and the home of the brave".
The crowd applauded to the Star Spangled Banner. The Continental American Militia had chosen it as their anthem not long after they were founded and often mocked corrupt politicians for singing it during the Fourth of July. As they put it "They're not worthy of singing our beloved national anthem". Marcus then tapped on the microphone and said "Now please calm down and enjoy the American Avenger's anthem: Well all go down to Corpos!" More music then started playing on the speakers, as the American Avengers all stood up straight and began singing along to their adapted version of the civil war song.
