"So how was date night with Trent?" Jay's humor filled deep voice questioned into my ear.

"It was not a date night." I replied flatly, rolling my eyes when Jay's smirk came into view.

"So not a booty call, not a date night - What do you call what you have with him?"

"I don't call it anything because technically 'it' doesn't exist." I answered pulling my bag strap up as it started to slide down off my shoulder. "Now get lost before people start getting the wrong idea."

Ignoring my demand Jay continued to walk next to me and even took my bag, carrying it himself. I developed the sudden urge to beat the living shit out of him. Everyone in the hall was staring at Jay and I, some more discreet than others. I tried my best to not show how uncomfortable the attention made me. The thought of how many questions I would be asked throughout the day and all the nasty glares I would probably recieve from jealous girls who would assume Jay and I had a thing, honestly made me not want to be at school. I could do gossip about me partying, but I didn't do gossip about me and my romance. Since Jay and I were walking to the same class I didn't bother to try and take my bag from him, especially since I was pretty sure he wouldn't bother to give it back and it would just create more of a scene. On our way down the hall, Kent walked up to me and slung his arm around my shoulders, giving Jay a strange, unwelcoming look.

"How you doing this morning Candy?" Trent whispered in a husky tone into my ear.

"As opposed to five minutes ago in American Lit? Just fine and dandy." I replied, amused.

"So, you're friends with Hayes now?" He asked.

"I wouldn't say friends."

"Are you guys - ?" Trent half questioned, a horrified expression on his flawless face.

"Oh god no!" I hastily assured him, equally horrified by the idea. Relief flooded Trent's face.

"Thank goodness. I didn't like the idea that I was making out with him too last night." He said, smirking at me.

"Yeah, don't stress."

"Hey you ready for class, babe?" Jay suddenly said as we reached class, wrapping his arm around my waist, causing Trent to immediately back away and mumble that he'd see me later. I was damn near ready to punch Jay.

"Get the hell off of me, Jay and give me my damn bag." I snapped at him, tugging my bag away from him and storming to my seat. I wasn't necessarily angry that he'd scared Trent away, because it wasn't like Trent was my boyfriend or anything, I was angry at him because at least five people saw and heard the little scene before class and I knew rumors would spread by the end of class. Jay took his seat next to me, a huge grin on his face. Bastard. When Mrs. Newberry took role, saying she was surprised to see Jay on time would be an understatement. I'm sure she had already marked him into her mind as someone who would be late everyday.

"Mr. Hayes, how pleasant it is to see you could make it to my class on time today."

"Well, Mrs. Newberry, Candy's helping me change my ways." Jay said with a straight face, but I saw his lip twitch and new he was trying really hard not to laugh. The whole class turned around to stare at Jay and I.

"How pleasant." Mrs. Newberry said before continuing with class.

"Suck a dick, Jay." I muttered angrily as Mrs. Newberry went into a discussion about Vincent Van Gough, only earning a smirk in response.

All throughout the rest of the class I was glaring daggers into the side of Jay's face. It took me all my willpower not to punch him in the face, especially with all of the whispers and stares I was getting. The girls thought they were sly, but I saw every time they stared at me. I knew that any rumors that would get around about Jay and I would be two times as worse than usual since he and I were the well known bad asses of rivalry schools. The son of a bitch was probably basking in all of the attention. Argh! How could he be so annoying and aggravating when yesterday afternoon he had been a normal human being. The moment that the bell rang I grabbed my bag and was out of the class in a flash. It was barely going to be third session and I was already over the day.
