Two weeks had passed since school started up again and Jay's house had become my escape place. I hadn't spent much time home lately and I hadn't hung out with Clara out of school at all. Everyone was talking about Jay and I, since it was no secret I spent most of my time with him. he even started picking me up in the morning and I always left school with him. Clara didn't mind my lack of attention to her, because she had other friends and she was being understanding at how comfortable Jay made me feel. I had explained to her about how he and I both had a different persona for our peers, yet actually had a lot in common - like being huge COD geeks. She was great about the whole situation, bit had started making little jokes about how I was going to end up dating Jay.

I had gotten over the stupid comments about Jay and I. Actually I had even started messing with people and saying little things to keep their suspicions going. I no longer freaked out when Jay slung his arm around me or called me pet names in public. It was just too amusing to see how everyone soaked it up. Trent and Jay had become good friends as well since it had become routine for Jay to drop me off at his place. It was strange having someone who I could talk to about things and who understood me completely. Jay had easily become my best friend and partner in crime.

Even Mr. Hayes and I were on okay terms, but he wasn't the biggest fan about the fact that I was failing class already. I was failing his class terribly. I couldn't bring myself to give a crap about what he was teaching, all of the people were dead and the events were in the past, I didn't understand the need to memorize all of the information - hell isn't that what the textbooks were for? Everything was already written down in the crap ton of books we had. We should have been focusing on the moral lessons that we could learn from the events and focus on what what could be done to prevent the events from happening again. The minute specifics such as the dates and places shouldn't be required to remember by heart, especially since it was such a waste of time because no one really remembered all that information and as a result just copied off of someone else, eventually learning nothing at all. It as safe to say that though Mr. Hayes and I appreciated the other's humor, we definitely did not see eye to eye when it came to History class and the level of significance it did - or did not - have. We had frequently gotten into little disputes about class, most of which ended in a draw or with him abruptly leaving to go see his girlfriend.

Anyways, the Hayes brothers and I had become acquainted with one another and Jay and I were actually going to attend the Back To School party that was being thrown tonight. Both of us already discussed that it would be hilarious to mess with our peers, but that neither was required to stick with the other. We both loved the little idea and had let it quickly spread through the school, causing an uproar of shock, since Jay and I were both notorious for always flying solo to parties. Plus it was the first time that a Rival student - technically ex-rival student now - would attend one of our parties, much less with me. Everyone was having their own little gossip feet about it while Jay and I had casually strolled the halls acting as though we were oblivious to the talk going on around us.

Currently, I was sitting in my last class of the day with Mr. Hayes at the whiteboard discussing some stupid battle that was fought at some insignificant place. All I knew was that some idiot had fucked up the whole program because he wanted to prove his balls were bigger than the other guys - not literally obviously but that was basically the issue, the dumbass's pride. I was doodling on the worksheet we were supposed to be filling out while he lectured us.

In my defense I had it complete so far despite the fact that he definitely didn't have my full attention. I was so focused on detailing my T-Rex I was drawing that I didn't notice Mr. Hayes approach my desk. I didn't notice anything until my seat partner cleared her throat. The whole class was looking at me when I finally glanced up from my worksheet and saw Mr. Hayes standing next to my desk, one eyebrow raised in amusement at me.
