Usually I would feel relieved when I hear the sound of the last bell ringing, but today part of me wishes that I didn't have to go home so soon. Right now,  after what Candy told me earlier, I don't know if I can handle going home and facing my brother. Just the thought of looking Matt in the face at the moment made my hands twitch. For months I have been trying to move on past Candy and accept that she's with Matt now. It has been going so well, at least until the other night at Prom. God, that kiss with Candy had been... there were no words.

Reluctantly I rise up out of my seat and follow the rest of my class out the door. On my way to my car, Leslie approaches me and I sigh, because I have a pretty good idea of what she's going to say to me. Leslie was, for all extensive purposes my girlfriend after Candy and I broke up, essentially making her a rebound. Due to that I felt only slightly bad about having kissed Candy at the Prom. By no means was Leslie ugly or boring or deserving of being cheated on. Leslie is pretty yet sultry, sweet yet sassy. She is the ideal girlfriend and someone all the guys dream of having. I would be one of those guys if I hadn't already met and fallen for Candy.

"Hey, Leslie." I greet her warily. There is nothing cheery about the way she looks at me, and I don't blame her at all.

"How's it going cheater?" She replies casually.

"Fine, how about you?"

"Oh great. I just get to listen to everyone talk about how my boyfriend made out with his ex. On the night that was suppose to be special for us."

"Look, Leslie. I'm sorry it happened." I tell her, knowing I'm only sorry I got caught. "We were just incredibly intoxicated and reminiscing and things just happened."

"Did things 'just happen' before?"

"What?! No!"

"Then I forgive you."

I am somewhat distracted until I heard her say those words. I look at her with wide eyes and am utterly confused.

"Wait, what?" My eyes are wide as I stare at her surly blue eyes. "Well, thanks."

"Now we can move past this," She wraps a slim hand around my arm, "And get back to where we left off."

Now I am really confused and pull away from her. We left off her screaming at me in betrayal and throwing pillows in the direction of my head while screaming that we were over and she didn't ever want to see my face again. Plus I am sort of okay with the idea of being single again - mainly because of five minutes ago Leslie smiles at me with a look that informs me she's thoroughly amused by my shock.

"Alright look. I know I freaked out about it, which I was justified about, but I've had some time to cool down."  She steps up to me and then wraps her arms around my neck. "I knew from the start that you were in love with her but I don't care. Until we leave for college or Candy gets sensible and realizes you two belong together, let's keep each other company."

"Are you serious?"

"Dead serious, Jay. We make each other laugh and have a great time. Plus you'll need a nice distraction to keep your mind off of a certain brunette." Leslie plants a hard, brisk kiss on my lips before staring at me with a serious expression. "The moment that Candy jumps back into the picture just break up with me alright? Getting between the two of you isn't anything I want to do ever."

"Okay, deal."

Leslie's beautiful face stares up at me with a huge grin and kisses me greedily. I let my mind go strictly primal as I just focus on the smooth, curvy plains of her body and her plush lips. I don't pause for a breath until Matt's ringtone blares from my cell. Anger burns in my bloodstream at the thought of him, and I pick it up, annoyed.
