"How about we end this?" Vanya said, her gaze focused on the enemy ahead. Dusk nodded in agreement, muttering the words, "Let's do it," Without another word, the sisters felt the energy inside them reach maximum capacity, the light in Vanya's chest grew brighter and brighter, and the tips of the raven's fiery orange wings ignited in flames.
Their siblings below knew what was about to happen, bracing themselves for impact. And the moment they did, a powerful force exited Vanya, sending the incoming assassins flying and battering them around like ragdolls. And with a single strong flap of her wings, Dusk's fire spread across the field, scorching the grass and burning the Commission to a fiery crisp.
When the fires diminished, everything suddenly became quiet. The only noise was the wind softly whistling. "I-is it over?" Allison whispered to Luther as they and Klaus hid behind bales of hay. Carefully, they stood up and looked at the field, their eyes widening when they saw not only the carnage, but something else. "What? How are they doing that?" Dusk gaped. Right where they were standing before, a small forcefield surrounded The Handler, Lila, and Victoria. "Your turn, dear," The Handler said, nodding to Lila. The brown-skinned dark-haired girl began levitating, almost exactly copying Vanya's powers.
"Shit, shit, shit!" Dusk shouted, just as Lila engaged her copycat powers, sending Dusk and the rest of her siblings flying through the air. "Catch me! Catch me! Catch me!" Klaus shouted as he plummeted to the ground, shutting his eyes as tight as he could. But to his luck, he stopped inches away from the ground as the ghosts of two Texas cowboys caught him right in the nick of time.
"Oh, thank god," he sighed with relief. A scream caught his attention, and he looked up to see his girlfriend flying through the air, trying her best to regain control of her flight pattern. "Hold on Dusk, I'm coming!" He shouted, hoping she could hear him as he ran in her direction. "Mayday! Mayday!" She shrieked, fearful she would crash into one of the trees on the side of the road.
But just as she was about to make impact, she regained control and safely landed on the ground, her wings disintegrating into ashes. Her mind couldn't process what had just happened. Somehow, one of The Handler's trusted recruits had powers, just like the Hargreeves. If that other girl had powers, does that mean Victoria could have powers as well?! The sounds of snow crunching made the raven look up, hopeful that it was one of her siblings checking in on her. But instead, it was Victoria. "Dusk! Thank heavens you're-" Before Victoria could finish her sentence, she conjured one of her fireballs, ready to throw it if she needed to.
"Get away from me!" Dusk commanded, making Victoria stop in her snowy tracks. "Look, I know you're upset, but I can explain-" "There's NOTHING to explain, Victoria! You're with the people who are trying to kill my family!" Dusk interrupted, the red in her eyes becoming darker by the minute, almost not looking human at all. Victoria stared down, the harshness in Dusk's voice surprised her.
"I'm sorry! I wanted to tell you about this, I really did! Not everyone at the Commission is bad news, some of us are good! Come on Dusk, you know me!" Victoria said, a hint of pleading at the end of her voice. Dusk scoffed at her explanation, muttering incoherently to herself. The fireball in Dusk's hand seemed to grow brighter the longer she remained silent. Victoria slowly took a step towards her enraged friend, hoping that she could calm her down and explain everything. "We're best friends, remember?" She whispered, placing a hand on Dusk's shoulder. Dusk looked up, meeting the redhead's eyes. "No, we're not! Best friends don't lie to each other..." She responded coldly.
"Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to save my family. Mark my words, I will never speak to you again for the rest of my fucking life," With that, she stormed off, holding back her tears as she walked away from the girl she considered at one point a sister. In the distance, she could see a figure running towards her, and she immediately recognized it as her beloved Klaus. "Dusky!" He shouted, increasing his speed as he flew into her arms.
The feeling of Klaus's body pressed against hers made her feel slightly better. Although it could never fully take away her pain, it warmed her heart to know the man she loved was still devoted to her. "Are you alright? You looked like you were gonna crash!" He asked, softly stroking her hair. "I'm okay, but it was quite scary," She admitted. Eventually, she met those beautiful green eyes she could get lost in, pressing a soft kiss to his lips.
This brief but romantic moment was not to last, as they heard a voice calling for help. Klaus and Dusk looked over his shoulder, hearing the yells grow louder. "Uh oh," They both said before they ran towards the back of the barn, noticing Diego had his leg stuck underneath the tractor from earlier. "What the hell took you all so long?" He complained, grunting as he attempted to get free.
"Well, we're here now, so can you shut up?" Luther strained, lifting the front of the tractor so his brother could escape its grasp. "Hey, has anybody seen Five?" Allison questioned. "We'll find him, don't worry. By the way, your ex-girlfriend can blink like Five," Luther spoke up. The second Hargreeves look confused, wondering why the woman he loved before never informed him of her powers.
Allison added to Luther's statement, claiming that Lila rumored her so she couldn't breathe. "Wait a second, do you guys think she might be one of us?" Dusk asked. Her question silenced nearly all of them, making them ponder that thought. For years, they thought they were the only ones with supernatural abilities. But they couldn't be the only ones. There had to be more people out there who were just like them.
"What about that other girl, the redhead? Does she have any powers?" Klaus asked, remembering the sight of three figures. "I don't know, but she did carry a black staff," Allison responded. Surprisingly, the mention of Victoria didn't seem to faze Dusk at all. It was like she never even knew who she was. "Well, I think it's safe to say those girls might be just like us," Vanya inhaled sharply.
Luther tried to laugh it off, but they knew it was the truth. "So, if Lila can mirror our powers, that means anything we throw at her, she can match, right?" Luther recapped. "Your right, but the catch is she can only use one power at a time," Klaus added.
Suddenly, strange noises came from the barn, familiar whooshing, along with the sounds of grunts and choking. "Guys, Five might need our help!" Dusk said, rushing to the barn with her siblings in tow.
