sitting in the bubble bath
with bruises on my knees,
thinking about how we
were once thick as thieves,
we lost ourselves in the
debris of who we wanted to be,
we fought our wars and
ended up with wounds to bind,
not only did we lose ourselves
but we lost our minds,
we searched for gold
but found nothing instead,
so many signs were seen
but none of them were read,
the path we took won't lead us home,
i'm sad that for you my feelings have grown,
once you knew you left me alone,
kissed my cheek and sent me away,
"be safe" you said to me today,
you knew i didn't want to say goodbye,
so why did you send me off
with a hug and a lie?
