FIFTEEN

The second Lisa closes the door, Lisa takes a deep breath, the image of Jennie perched up on the sofa watching as she left like a little kid ingrained in her mind. With the two security guards right beside her, she isn't able to take a second to digest what just happened. Instead, she straightens herself, pushes any guilty feelings from her mind for the time being, and heads back to Jisoo's office.

When she knocks and is called in, she sees Jisoo isn't alone. Her co-workers, Rosie and Somi, are both present in the room.

"Well?" Jisoo questions with her eyebrow raised, Rosie and Somi also looking at her expectantly.

Lisa nods slightly. "She agreed."

"You did as I said?"

Lisa nods again, her eyes darting down to Jisoo's desk as she takes a seat. "Yes. No contract, no proof that we'll uphold our side. She agreed."

"See!" Somi exclaims. "I told you if you got her attached to you, she will do anything you want."

Lisa just nods, eyes still avoiding anyone else's.

"You okay, Lisa?" Jisoo asks and Lisa hums.

"How did you manage to get her attached to you?" Rosie questions. "A psychopath assassin who hasn't maintained a single personal relationship in her life just trusted you?"

"She likes me. I exploited that and made her trust me. Then I exploited the trust," Lisa explains emotionlessly.

"Lisa, this was necessary for--" Jisoo starts before she's cut off.

"I know it was necessary, and I did it, didn't I?" Lisa finally looks up and meets Jisoo's eyes. The Korean woman isn't blind to the flash of hatred Lisa's face fails to hide, but it's gone in a split second. Lisa sighs. "Ruby Jane asked for something to eat. I'm going to get her something and make sure she's... not inclined to kill anyone."

"Would she even manage with one arm?" Rosie asks.

Lisa scoffs. "You don't want to find out." Then she leaves the room without giving a second glance or proper goodbye to her co-workers.

Leaving the building, Lisa went to her favourite sandwich shop and bought two sandwiches, briefly considering what Jennie would like best before just ordering two of her usual. Taking the food back into her place of work, Lisa makes no detours on her way to room thirteen.

It was almost torture, sitting with Jennie after she had just lied to her face, but the feeling of not being with her was worse than being with her, so she suppressed her guilt and took the space on the sofa next to the wounded killer.

"I didn't know what you liked, so I just got you the same as me," Lisa said as she handed Jennie the sandwich.

"I'll eat anything," Jennie responds, unwrapping the sandwich. "Chicken?"

"Chicken steak. It's my favourite."

Jennie hums. "I didn't strike you as that type of person."

"What do you mean?" Lisa takes the first bite of her sandwich, eyes on Jennie who is studying her sandwich.

"The type of person to have favourites."

"Of course I have favourites. I am human." Lisa's eyes widen as Jennie's deceivingly small mouth opens and takes in almost half the sandwich in one bite.

After a moment of chewing, and with her mouth still full, Jennie asks, "am I your favourite?"

"What do you mean?" Lisa knits her brows together.
