SEVENTEEN
It wasn't the first time Lisa had found herself on the inside of a prison cell, however, it was the first time in her professional career that it had happened. She had fucked up. Big time. And the way she saw it, it was all Jennie's fault.
Jennie was like a parasite. She had forced herself into Lisa's life and invaded her mind, coaxing her to disregard her morals, responsibilities and everything else relating to her job. Again and again, Lisa had bent and broken the rules, not because Jennie had asked her to, but simply because Lisa had become obsessed with her and would do anything to be near her.
The thrill of being with Jennie far outweighed any potential consequences for her actions. At least, it had. Until Lisa found herself in a very real situation where her superiors would see clearly that she had taken an incredibly high-risk individual into the public and then into a setting that was a recipe for disaster.
Lisa mentally prepared herself to lose her job.
Jennie, on the other hand, was having the time of her life.
"It's been a long time since I was inside a jail cell," she comments whilst looking around at her surroundings. "They're so much nicer than they used to be."
Lisa sat in the corner of the cell on the cold bench, hugging her knees to her chest as she watched Jennie approach the thick, steel bars and bang on them.
"Hello!" The feline assassin demanded the officer's attention. "My girlfriend is a police officer. You cannot do this! Let us out now!" She was ignored.
"Can you stop making things worse for me?" Lisa raised her voice in frustration before bringing it back down to a mutter. "You've already ruined my life."
Jennie abandoned her mission of irritating the officers and approached Lisa, taking the empty space next to her.
"Please. We both know I made it better," Jennie tells her.
"I'm going to lose my job."
"Would that be so bad?" Jennie questions. "You can stop feeling bad about shagging me."
"God, can you ever take anything seriously?"
"Not really." Jennie shakes her head and Lisa peers her eyes at her. "My brain doesn't work like that. Unless you want me to pretend to care?" She offers.
"No." Lisa sighs. "I don't want you to pretend."
Jennie hums, her voice deep and her presence comforting as she inches closer to Lisa until she closes any gap and slips her hand past her hair and to the back of her neck. Her touch is warm and her fingers soft. Lisa leans back and welcomes the affection, her head cloudy and eyes heavy as Jennie's smell invades.
"Lisa," Jennie whispers her name delicately. "What have you done to me?" She says even quieter. Lisa's eyes flutter, her tongue peeking out to wet her lips.
"I should be asking you that."
Jennie giggles, a sound that triggers Lisa, equally taunting her and enticing her.
"I'm serious, you know," the assassin starts. "If you lose your job, it would be a good thing for us. We could... do this properly," the end of her sentence trails off slightly, but Lisa catches it. It doesn't surprise her as much as it would have only weeks ago. She knew Jennie well enough by now to know her capacity for compassion wasn't excessive, but somehow Lisa fit comfortably inside of it. However, even the thought of a real relationship with the feline-eyed killer was something Lisa considered out of the realm of possibilities, especially whilst the uncomfortable metal of the bench was acting as a persistent reminder of the situation she was in.
