THREE
Bambam could see the guilt written all over his co-worker's face, no matter how much he tried to convince her that she was not at fault. It was also why he had ceased any teasing towards her regarding the cat-eyed killer they were trying to find.
They arrived in the Philippines with instructions to find out whatever they could. It wasn't much. Apart from a witness that was able to confirm what they already knew; she had heard two gun shots as she was passing by the building.
The businessman that had been killed had been working late in the office. No one else was there. The man had two shots to the chest after what seemed to be some struggle.
But the detectives had a face now. They scanned the visual through all surrounding street cameras and managed to track the killer to the hotel she had been staying at. Bambam and Lisa waste no time in making their way over there.
Bambam takes the lead. He approaches the receptionist whilst Lisa scopes the lobby out, ensuring there's no one close enough to overhear their conversations. Bambam shows the lady his badge and explains he's looking for someone who was very recently in the hotel.
"This is her." Bambam presents the sketch they had. "Do you recognise her?" The woman scans over the picture and nods her head. "Is she still here?"
"No. She checked out early this morning."
"Can we see the room she stayed in?"
"Yes." The woman retrieved the key card along with a small piece of paper. "This is a receipt of everything she ordered, in case it's useful."
Bambam nodded, taking the items. "Thank you." Then he made his way over to Lisa.
"Any luck?" Lisa asked whilst Bambam looked over the receipt.
"She checked out early morning. We have the key to the room she was staying in."
"Great. There's probably nothing, but let's go check." Bambam took two steps before stopping dead in his tracks, still reading the receipt. "What's wrong?" Lisa asked.
"We might have a problem."
"What sort of problem?"
"I don't know." Bambam handed Lisa the receipt. "What exactly do we categorise this into?"
Lisa scanned over the receipt to say what Bambam was talking about. Her eyes widened in horror when she read it. The room that had been booked, and everything that had been ordered, had been done so under the name of Lalisa Manoban.
"What the fuck?" Lisa muttered.
"You're telling me. You need to get off this case."
Lisa shook her head, pocketing the receipt. "No. This means nothing. It's just a name. Come on. We have a job to do." Before Bambam could oppose, Lisa was already walking off in search of the room.
Knowing his friend wouldn't listen to reason, Bambam just followed after Lisa and made the decision to consult with Jisoo later on.
As expected, there was nothing of any use left behind in the hotel room. Bambam noticed Lisa's frustration growing and turning into anger as they left the hotel. He stepped aside to make a phone call out of her earshot.
"Jisoo, we found the hotel she was staying in, but she's long gone."
"I want you to visit any surrounding shops," came the voice on the other end. "All of them. If anyone even caught a glimpse of her, I need to know. She may have been with someone or bought something that could tell us more. You and Lisa get on it."
