EIGHTEEN
It had been one week since Lisa had been demoted. One week since she had seen Jennie. Just one week.
The detective could think of nothing else; she was utterly consumed by the thought of Jennie Ruby Jane Kim despite her having absolutely zero contact with her. Lisa was going crazy. She felt like she was having withdrawal symptoms and that if she didn't see Jennie soon, she might very well self-destruct.
It had been easy the first day. It had been very easy when she was faced with the possibility of losing her job to tell Jisoo she hated Jennie and believe the lie herself. Lisa didn't know how she felt about Jennie, because it wasn't simply lust. Whilst that was a major factor, Lisa could spend hours in Jennie's presence and not be touched by her and still feel some satisfaction, just as long as she could be around her. So Lisa knew her feelings extended beyond lust.
But Lisa didn't love Jennie either.
How could she? She was a murderous psychopath who had killed her friend. She could never love someone like that. But Lisa saw the other side to Jennie, not Ruby Jane, but the softer, more vulnerable side. And still, she couldn't ignore that Ruby Jane was also Jennie. She was confused. She did know though, that she was unequivocally obsessed with Jennie Kim. And that she had to see her.
On day nine of being demoted and deprived of Jennie Kim, Lisa tries her luck with Somi.
"Forget it, Lisa," Somi says as she quickly packs her things up and tries to escape Lisa. Everyone had already left for the day and they were the only ones in the office.
"Please, Somi. I just want to see her, just for five minutes. No one will know. I promise."
"You're completely insane. What's it going to take? Has being demoted and suspended taught you nothing." Somi turned to walk away but Lisa caught her wrist.
"Somi, seriously, it's not a big deal. Just take me up to the hotel with you and let me see her for five minutes."
Somi looked down at Lisa's grip on her wrist before yanking it back. "Ask me again, Lisa, and I'll report you." Somi stormed away leaving Lisa on her own.
Lisa watched her leave and waited until she had disappeared from her sight. Then, she pulled her hand from behind her back and revealed Somi's ID in her hand.
All she had to do now was buy a blonde wig.

Having made herself resemble Somi as closely as possible, Lisa stood on the ground floor waiting for the elevator doors to open. She was nervous. Nervous to get caught. If she did, she would be fired without a doubt, and she also knew how much she would be hurting Jisoo. Nevertheless, these risks were not enough to convince her to stop what she was doing.
After getting in the elevator and pressing the button for her desired floor, she wrung her clammy hands whilst she watched the number that told her what floor she was on gradually getting higher and higher until the elevator came to a stop and the doors opened with a ding.
Lisa took a breath to compose herself and stepped out, walking towards her destination at confidently as possible. She approached the two security guards with her head slightly tilted down.
"ID," one of them said. Lisa presented her coworker's ID, a tiny quiver to her movement. The anxiety in her chest dissipated the second the guard nodded and stepped aside for her.
