The soldier was right; it did get easier but that didn't mean she necessarily enjoyed killing people. It was just something she had to do. It was programmed into her. So, as she span on the hardwood floor, pointe shoes strapped tight to her feet while piano music played in the background, for the first time she could remember, her head was empty.

It was a relief, if she was honest. No repetitive  thoughts of wondering if she would die soon. No nagging voice telling her to do things she normally wouldn't do. It was just peaceful, music rolling through her mind in waves, clouding up her senses like a foggy mist of calmness.

Nova didn't even hear the door open, the lock clicking as three people stepped into the room. Her feet travelled her around, movements graceful and perfect. She looked elegant and feminine, arms moving slowly, almost giving her a mystical look as she followed her given dance routine. The skirt of her black dress flowed around her thighs as she jumped and twisted her body, landing on pointed toes, lifting one leg behind her before she continued to dance to the music.

The music stopped and so did her movements. Placing her feet flat down again, Nova turned to the people and saw Madam B with Winter and a man she had never met before. He had short brown hair and was dressed in a casual tracksuit with a cigar between his lips. Straightening up, Nova waited for what she presumed would be her next instruction.

"This is her?" The unfamiliar male asked, Russian accent thick in his words as he looked towards Madam B.

"Yes. This is my prize." Madam B replied, lips curling into a small cruel smirk as they looked at the child.

"Hm." The man hummed, stepping towards Nova and analysing her with beady eyes.

"Who are you?" Nova asked, head tilted a little and Madam B went to scold her for speaking out of turn but the man chuckled gravelly.

"No, no." He interrupted Madam B. "That is fine. She is just curious. I am General Dreykov."

Nova nodded slowly, looking at the man who had stopped a few feet in front of her. She had never met him before in her life but already knew she didn't like him. Winter watched from beside Madam B, arms crossed over his chest, mask on and eyes glaring  as Dreykov took another few steps towards the girl until he was in front of her.

The girl moved her head backwards a little as he reached out to her. His cold hands grabbed onto her cheeks and he twisted her head to the side and then the other, looking over her facial structure as Nova just stood there, fingers twitching at her thighs nervously and eyes wide in confusion.

"She will make a great assassin." Dreykov hummed in approval, placing his hands on her shoulders. "How old are you, маленький?"

"Seven." Nova replied, body tense and Dreykov hummed again, stepping backwards to look over the weaponry wall.

"I have seen videos of you. All of your training has been recorded and sent to me." Dreykov started. "Because I am the person that runs this program. I give you your home, Nova. And in return you will work for me, do you get that?"

"Yes." She nodded as he turned back to her.

"Good. By the looks of things, you will be graduating by the time you are ten. Maybe even nine." Dreykov stated. "Do you know what happens during the graduation?" Nova shook her head. "It is a series of tests to make sure you can sustain being a Red Room assassin. If you fail, that is it. The end of you. Your life means nothing to the Red Room if you cannot complete what you are made to do. Understand?"

"Yes." Nova replied with a slight nod.

"Where is you place in the world?" Dreykov questioned, hands behind his back.

"I have no place in the world." Nova responded immediately.

"Exactly. Continue training, it would be a shame to waste such talent." Dreykov smirked, stepping forwards to her again and patting her cheek lightly before he stepped back into line with Madam B.

Nova's eyes darted to the door as it opened again and a woman walked through dressed in a black suit with a belt across it, the widow's red hourglass in the centre of the belt. Guns were strapped to her thighs and knife holsters in other pockets too. The child's eyes flickered to her wrists and she saw something that looked like taser bracelets. She had been taught about them in lessons and knew that they threw widow bites.

Eyes locking, Nova's green ones board into her hazel ones. The Widow was staring down at her blankly while Nova's was just staring at her with curiosity. If she survived, this would be her in a few years. The Widow's hair was in a tight plait that reached just below her shoulder blades and she could use that to her advantage. Nova knew she wouldn't just be in here for any old reason. She needed to impress Dreykov and she needed to show that she was better.

The Widow suddenly snapped into action, storming towards Nova who dropped to her knees, skidding along the floor and between her legs, standing as she slid to a halt in front of Winter. The soldier stepped to the side a little and she grabbed a knife from the table behind him.

The Widow couldn't really do much except slash at the child with a knife. Bending her back, Nova dodged the swings sent her way and they moved away from the watching people back over to the centre of the room. Flipping backwards, Nova continued to move out of the way of the Widow's blade.

Inhaling sharply, Nova took a glance at Dreykov and Madam B, the woman shaking her head as the fight prolonged and Dreykov seemingly bored with the display. Winter glanced at the two and then at Nova, nodding his head ever so slightly.

Jumping, Nova kicked the Widow in the chest and Dreykov straightened in interest, watching the Widow stumble back a little at the surprisingly strong kick. Swiping her foot, Nova kicked the older woman's feet from under her and she fell to the floor before getting back up.

Now behind her, Nova jumped onto her back, crawling up until her legs were level with her chest and she grabbed the Widow's plait, pulling her head to the side with it. Gripping the knife tightly, the seven year old plunged the weapon into the Widow's neck, twisting the blade in her arteries. Falling to the floor, Nova landed safely on her feet while the Widow gasped for air, hand reaching to try and stop the bleeding but it just tricked down her fingers until she stopped breathing, eyes wide open and now lifeless.

Breathing heavily, Nova wiped some blood from her face with the back of her hand and then wiped that on her dress, still holding the bloody knife in her other hand as the residue of the Widow dripped onto the floor in small splotches until it formed a little puddle of red liquid by her feet.

Smirking, Dreykov nodded in approval, looking over at Madam B who seemed prouder of her prize now she had done her job. Winter looked to Nova who was still wiping her face but then her eyes flickered to his and she nodded a little, tapping her thigh twice discreetly; it was almost a secret communication of whether either one of them was okay.

Yeah, it did get easier.
