It took long enough to completely reheat Layla. Long enough to make Mary and Eric anxious they wouldn't be able to do it.

She was now able to breath correctly. Her pulse was back to normal after few hours of examination. The doctors said she should be conscious soon so the police officers could ask her questions about Joseph, Danita and Frank. Sebastian wanted to protest but Eric said it was for her best if they were interrogating her as soon as possible.

They were all three in the room waiting for her to open her eyes. They were all nervous at the same time of being excited. They placed the room to make her feel like home. Her favourite candle, the cherry blossom bouquet... even her guitar was there. They put her own blanket on her. Everything to make her feel better.

"Sir, I need to talk to you."

"Sure officer." Eric got out of the room to talk to the gentleman and both looked at each other. Why him? Did they really need to talk to all her family members? Did they need to talk to Sebastian? Of course, they needed to. He was the target, but why talking to Eric?

They weren't involved in all of this. Only Sebastian and sadly Layla. Eric came back after another good forty five minutes with the policeman. He sat back to his place and looked at Layla.

And for the first time, we saw a tear running on his left cheek. Never he cried in front of them, but today it was special. She was about to wake up with them beside her. Their biggest fear was gone now. They could sleep on their both ears without waking up every hour in the five hours of sleep they usually had... this was during the whole eighteen days because of their nightmares.

The guy didn't talk to Mary after that. Only to Eric. That was weird. Maybe he didn't want to rush them.

Layla started to move in the hospital bed and she was crying at the same time. She was in a nightmare. She was almost turning on herself. They needed to wake her up. Mary tried but she pushed her away. Same thing with both of the men. She was screaming "Don't touch me!". Sebastian lost his patience and he was now on top of her to make her stop moving. They would need help if she didn't wake up from her bad dream.

"LAYLA, WAKE UP!" He screamed so loud the nurses came to see if everything was good.

"Don't touch me!" She repeated a couple times before she opened her eyes. She had fear in them. Looking at all the strangers in the room and people she knew made her anxious. Why were they all there? Where was she? It took her only few minutes before she saw the machines on her and made her realize that she was in the hospital.

"Layla..."

Layla didn't see at first Sebastian on her. He pushed himself away from her and looked at her. So pretty. He wanted to kiss her badly at this time. He was glad to have her with him. But he didn't want to push himself and her. What if she didn't want to? And after what she was being through, there was no way she would let him do that kind of gesture.

"Wh-where's Joseph?"

"We are looking for him. Don't worry. He doesn't have anywhere to go." A policeman said firmly.

Mary walked to her with precautionary, having few tears on the corner of her eyes. She gave her little blossom a hug murmuring she missed her so much.

"I was so scared grandma!"

"Miss Hardin, can we talk to you?"

"Hey! She just woke up, leave her alone." Sebastian said coldly.

Only one look and one sentence to made them leave saying sorry. Only a nurse stayed to take the new informations the machines showed and a blood test.

She didn't want anyone close to her, but to let it happen, she closed her eyes as hard as she could. Layla was traumatized.

Forever.

It was something she will never forget.

"Eric, can you help me to go buy some food? There's a restaurant in front of the hospital."

"Bu-" she gave him a look. "Yeah, sure. We won't be long and everybody is looking after you. You'll be okay." Eric kissed Layla's forehead.

They closed the door and left the two young people together. An awkward silence came in the room. He walked a little bit closer to her but she instantly moved back. "Sorry... I know you won't hurt me but-"

"Don't apologize, doll. Don't, I understand."

"I-I... I don't know what happened. I was unconscious after a week I think. I was so cold and thirsty. I thought I was dying. And now... I'm in a hospital."

"I sadly have everything in my phone. I keep those for the police. But, hey, I missed you."

"I missed you too." She said silently.

"May I?"

She nodded. He wanted to sit on the bed next to her, but he asked the permission first. She took his hand and looked deep in his eyes whispering "It's not your fault."

"But-"

"No, but Seb. You couldn't know what would happen. You're not a sorcerer... Sorry, I meant Sebastian." She said fast at her last sentence.

And it made him smile. His smile made her smile too, but she sobbed. It was like if she was in a dream. It was almost too beautiful to be true.

"We're back with the food!" Mary said while Eric opened the door.

They brought Chick-Fil-A. Something simple and everyone loved chicken. Layla ate everything they gave her. The fries didn't have time to become a little bit colder that they were already gone.

"For how long I was gone?"

"Eighteen days."

She looked at her grandfather. For that long? She thought to herself. Maybe that was why she was that thin. She lost so much weight. We could see her bones and her bruises looked darker because of that.

She didn't move that much, but enough to hurt herself. She only wanted to take her drink. It was on the table right beside her, but her ribs hurt like if they were breaking. She held her pain scream and closed her eyes harder. She bit her lips but didn't take conscience of it.

"Are you alright, dove?"

"It hurts, but I can handle it."

"Lay'?"

"I'm okay grandpa, don't worry."

"Stubborn, doll."

"You'll see with time Sebastian, she's worse." Eric said with a small laugh.

"I won't argue with you on that, Eric."

"Hey, I'm still there guys..."

They laughed a little before they all stopped and the three looked at Layla. It was good to see her again. They didn't think they would see a smile that fast, but they loved it and wouldn't complain about it.
