Two weeks had passed and Sebastian didn't find any clues about Joseph. He was like a ghost story. Luckily, on a positive note on the other side, Layla could get out of the hospital today. It took so long. She wasn't eating anything so they obliged her to stay.

Today, Sebastian would try to see her. Since she woke up, he only came when she was asleep. He was scared of her reaction. Mary tried to say that Layla wanted to see him, but he didn't listen.

No, he didn't. He preferred to hurt himself. With his punches, he cut his hands. They were full of dry blood and bruises. His walls needed to be repaired. They had holes everywhere.

He took a good breath and went in the hospital. It was time to see if his doll awake. The fear was all over his abdomen. He opened the door, she wasn't face to him.

"Hey doll..."

She had a jump scare. When she turned to him, we could see the fear. Her breathing was fast. Poor her.

"I'm sorry..." he put a bunch of cherry blossom on the table. "I wasn't there to protect you."

"Wha-what happened? I remember Joseph coming in your house and he knocked my head."

"Pretty much. He broke you ten ribs too. I'm so sorry. I shouldn't left you alone with him in the city."

"I'm scared Sebastian." She sobbed. Seeing her crying was the last thing he wanted. She was so scared, it broke his heart. Why? He didn't know. He approached her with precaution and hugged her.

She jumped a little, but finally hugged him back. She squeezed him harder in her arms. She needed it. She missed him so much. "Why you didn't come to see me?"

"I did come... but only when you were sleeping because I was afraid you didn't want to see me."

"That's not true. I feel... I feel safe with you." She said still crying on his shoulder.

Her sentence warmed his heart. Never someone had say that to him. He was always the scary man that nobody wanted to approach. They never felt safe with him. They were saying he was crazy.

"You're always there to protect me."

"But I wasn't there last time! He took advantage of the fact I wasn't there to hurt you and this is unacceptable. He'll pay for this. Nobody can hurts you!" He breathed. "Let's go. I'm bringing you to Mary."

"No! I want to stay with you."

"It's too dangerous, doll. If he knows when I'm working, he'll come again and I can't imagine what he will do to you. I promise I'll come everyday to pick you up."

"Bu-" she thought. Layla wasn't with the good person to argue. "Okay..."

He took her bag that her grandpa brought, the flowers and helped her to walk away. Obviously the paparazzi was there and took pictures of them. They tried to go as fast as they could walk and went in his car.

She didn't have the strength to sing.

They drove in silence, enjoying each other's company for the first time in a while. It took maybe twenty minutes before they arrived to her house.

"Let me walk you to the door."

He took her hand. When they were in the front of the door, he gave her a little box. Another butterfly bracelet. But different from the two others he offered.

"Wow... it's beautiful."

"I'm glad you like it... see you tomorrow." He kissed her cheek.

He waited she closed the door behind her before he left in his car. But what he didn't know, the fear took a bigger place in her body. She didn't feel secure alone, without him. She was scared of Joseph. He could be there anytime. She started crying all the tears of her body.

She put the flowers on the table once she stopped and left in her room. She wanted to take a bath. No shower. She was scared he would pop up and she couldn't hear him.

She got an idea as she walked in the house. Once she was in the bathroom and filled the bath, she went back downstairs and took the flowers. She had a little wood table she could put things on it when she was taking a bath.

She put the flowers in the middle so it was like if he was with her. She undressed herself, seeing all the bruises she had and went in the hot water. She took off the necklace to not make it change colour. She knew it was real gold but she didn't want to take the risk. And she did the same with the bracelet she had since he gave it to her couple weeks ago.

She tried to read a book, but she wasn't able to focus. Her mind was somewhere else. She started to panic due to the fact that she was alone... with no protection. Mary and Eric were gone and she didn't know when they would come back.

[...]

Sebastian didn't leave her. No, not after what happened two weeks ago. He was looking after her in his car. He waited. He would wait as long as he needed to protect her. Few hours have passed before her grandparents came back.

He left after thirty minutes. He wanted to be sure she had someone to protect her. He left and stopped to punch a random guy who didn't cause any problem to him, but to another one instead. He needed to hurt someone anyway. His punches weren't coordinated but with all the anger he had, he still finished to broke his nose, few fingers and an arm. He was angry. He wanted to stop because he didn't want to deceive his little angel, but Joseph was all over his mind.

Blood.

The blood was everywhere on his white shirt. The guy was bleeding so much that every time he punched him, it flew on Sebastian. He was ashamed of himself. Why did he hurt someone who didn't bother him? This question was haunting his thoughts after he finished the job. He changed himself and went to his home.

"Loren, please, I need a tea."

"Yes, sir."

Few minutes later she came back with what he asked and left with his shirt full of blood. She didn't ask any questions. She knew he wouldn't answer anyway. Once he finished his drink, he went in the shower. All his muscles were tense. And for the first time in a while, he forgot Joseph for few minutes and only thought about Layla. I feel safe with you. It made him smile in the shower. He didn't smile since she was in the hospital so it was a first in a while.

He got out and only dressed with a boxer before he went to his room. Looking at his phone, he realized he got a phone call. Damn it. It was her. What if she had a problem and needed him? Again, he wasn't there. He called back and she answered with a sleepy voice.

"Doll, are you okay?" He said worried.

"Yes, don't worry. My grandma took care of it."

"I'm sorry I didn't answered. What did you need?"

"I'm scared to be alone."

He didn't say anything the time to process what she said. "But you're not. Mary and Eric are there."

"But I'm so scared without you." She started crying. "What if he comes back? And what if he hurts them? I couldn't pardon myself."

"Okay, okay. Take a deep breath, dove. Don't hang up till I'm at yours okay?"

"Yes." She murmured.

He dressed up as fast as he could and drove to hers. Was Joseph that stupid? He would show up just like that to hurt them? Yes, of course. It was part of his next plan.

"Doll, please, sing."

"I don't have the motivation Sebastian."

"Please? Or can you play with your guitar?"

"I can try..."

No motivation was a first for her too. Never it happened. She got up, opened the light and took her acoustic guitar. With her shaking hands, she started playing. It hurt and it wasn't clear, but it only took few accords before she started playing something that made a bit of sense.

He didn't talk, only enjoyed the melody she was creating. He drove a little bit over the limits and took twenty five minutes to be there.

"I'm here doll."
