Sebastian came back few minutes later and he was looking everywhere for his doll when he didn't se ever at the bar. What the hell happened the time he was gone? It's not like he left for an eternity. He looked without stopping for a very long time.
"For god's sake Rosa! How can you not know where she is?! I've been looking for her since two hours already!"
"Sorry, mister Stan... I-I-"
"I asked one thing!" He screamed angrily. "One fucking thing!" He threw the bottles on the wall behind her. "I didn't ask the fucking moon, you idiot!" He couldn't believe it. She disappeared just like that. There was no way it was from her own. He went to his car and drove everywhere in New York. Every road. Every house. Every single inch. Where was she?
It drove him crazy... so crazy that he punched a tree so many times he almost broke his hand.
[...]
And then, in the middle of one of the biggest forests in the US, something was waiting there for her. They were driving for so long and she had a bandana on her face to not see or scream help.
The air became hotter, sign they moved to another state. Layla had difficulty to breath in the trunk. Her hands were tied and her feet too. Her ribs hurt like a bitch. She was panicking. Where was Sebastian?
She felt they drove for hours. She could see the Sun getting up and starting slowly getting down. He only stopped two times. Where? She didn't know, but not thing sure, she was getting thirsty. Her throat was dry and she needed to hydrate herself.
[Hours later]
Sebastian, on his side, he called all the policemen to find his sweetheart. They looked in the Queens, the Bronx, Brooklyn and Staten Island, but nothing. In 24h, they didn't found anything. How was that possible? Why she left the state?
The officers asked him to go back to his home to rest a little bit. Which he didn't do. He literally destroyed his room, one of his bathroom and a part of the kitchen. Million dollars gone. Again, he wasn't there to protect her. She didn't deserve all of this, she was innocent.
"Mister Stan, is everything alright?" Loren asked as she brought him a cup of coffee like he asked.
"No, Layla is missing! She's fucking missing!"
"Is missing? How?"
"I don't know! That's the problem Loren. I don't know..." He felt ashamed, sad, angry... all the "bad and sad" emotions at the same time. He hated himself. He didn't realize a tear was running down his cheek.
"We will find her, I promise, sir."
"You promise?"
"Yes. I'm sure she's fine."
She wasn't. She was cold, hungry and thirsty. They did the half of the ride to Nevada/California. They were going to Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The third most biggest forest in the country.
She didn't stop crying but with the time, she was crying with no tears. She only had stopped sobbing when she felt he stopped the car and opened the trunk.
"I think you saw them, didn't you, little slut?" Joseph said while he took her to take her out. He took off the bandana. It was Sebastian's foster parents. Why the hell they were there?
"Oh love, don't worry. We were just spying on you and your little darling. Nothing more." The woman said.
What did she want from Layla? She didn't know who they were. She tried to see where they were but nothing gave her clues.
"Even if you're looking where we are, we are moving again."
Her eyes were wide open. Why they would move again? It was over a day, a little bit more, they were driving and they were still moving? Why?
The frontiers. She was able to see the frontiers from where she was after she blinked few times. They were right before the Wyoming, but that, she didn't know.
She started crying... again. She was so far from New York. Sebastian will never find her.
"Okay. Come with us, you saw enough." Said the weird man.
"I let you handle her to the place. I need to do something first."
They put back the bandana and put her in another trunk. Tighter. She wasn't able to move. She was dead. Nobody will ever find her.
They started the vehicle and drove. She was silently saying goodbye to Mary and Eric. Hoping they will hear her prayer.
Will all the tears and the prayers she was sending to people, she felt asleep.
[...]
"Wake up bitch." The woman screamed in her ears. It made her do a jump scare.
"Aw poor little baby. Her makeup is all over her under eyes and her mascara on her cheeks." They both laughed. They took off the bandana and she saw trees everywhere. Where the hell she was? The temperature made her shivering at first. It was cold but she could handle it.
"You'll live in this during the night and you'll be chained to a tree." She pointed a big wood box. It looked like a casket, but luckily it wasn't one.
It was hell. She wouldn't survive two days in that. It was small and no trap to breath correctly. He really meant his sentence when he said he would to killed her.
"You will have one sip of water per day. It's already enough so don't try to steal our food." Layla said nothing. "Understood?!" He finally yelled when there was no answer.
She nodded. She was so scared. She was shaking every inch of her skin.
"Take off her clothes Frank, it will be funnier this way."
She tried to protest but nothing. She tried to stop him, but not enough strong. What did she deserve? What is because she was in Sebastian's protection?
Frank ripped her clothes easily. What the hell? They even took off her underwear. She cried even more if it was possible. The woman pulled her hair so hard before they started to walk to the big tree. They chained her from her throat to her ankles. Double tied for her feet. She was exposed. She felt disgusting.
"Oh what is that?" The blond said. "It's a tattoo? Wait I know that! Sebastian has the same."
It was written Not Afraid. She did it the second day Sebastian was at her home to made her feel secured. He did it when he was fifteen and both of them had the tattoo at the same place, or at least, close to be at the same place.
"So you're that close to him huh honey?" She stabbed her.
No sound came out of her mouth. She wasn't able to do that but her tears talked for her. She continued to mutilate Layla until her belly was filled with blood. Danita and Frank had no pity for her. They planned everything with Joseph. They were sure she would be dead and nobody will ever find her. Nobody ever passed where they were.
She could finally rot in hell.
