They both finally woke up thirty minutes after Loren left. The soup was still warm on the stove and Sebastian was making two bowls for them. He cut pieces of bread and placed everything on the table. He was far in his thought he didnt't realize Layla was standing in tthe kitchen trying to read him... Well trying to figure out what was going on since earlier.
She only wished he would've told her so she could help him with. Or at least try to. He looked at her after he came back to reality and motionned her to come and sit which she did without saying anything. "I don't want you to go to work for a while."
"I'm sorry what...?"
"I'm telling you to not go working. In fact, I'm firing you for a moment."
"Sebastian you can't be serious... I need to work, you know it as well as I do."
"I'm sorry doll. Can't let you do that." He placed his hand on hers rubbing the back with his thumb. "I just need you to trust me."
"To trust you...? I already trust you." Layla looked at him confused.
"Don't give me that look."
"I'm sorry... I'm just really confused. Since whatever that happened earlier, you act weird."
"And I'll make it up to you. For now, I just need you to stay here with Loren when I'm gone or with me if I'm home. I don't want you to leave alone. I won't negociate."
"You start to scare me... Someone is after you or... me?"
"I don't know and I'm honest. So please, don't leave the house without anyone."
"Okay..." She took a breath and looked at her bowl. She took a small spoon of her soup and a piece of bread before looking back at him. "You know who it would be?"
"I have my ideas, but nothing's sure doll. Don't get so stressed about. I get this. Now eat, you need it."
She simply nodded and finished her food before going cleaning her dishes and walked over the bathroom to take a long and hot shower.
Sebastian looked at her going and at his turn, he cleaned the dishes he used and sat back at the table with his phone in his hands. He was trying to see again where they could've escaped.
There was few places they could've been gone. Anita and Frank really loved their first house. It wasn't big, but enough for them and now for Joseph. There was also their cabin in the woods where they used to hunt.
But both of these places were far away. Hours and hours away from New York. If they left there at the moment they escaped jail, they could have already packed the rest of their stuff and left to who knows where.
He put his phone back in his pocket and let his head falling on the back placing his hands on his face sighing. This wasn't his day at all. He usually could find anything in the next second, but this time... it was more difficult. They knew how to hide without being seen.
Layla came back from her shower a while later seeing him in the same position he was when he pulled back his phone away. She walked over him and placed her arms around him kissing his head. "I can see you aren't focused. Something big is bothering you."
"You're right, doll... I'm sorry, I shouldn't put you in this."
"It's okay, don't worry. We are both in this together... You just need to tell me what I can do."
"Except for you to not stay alone... There's nothing much you can do really... I'll figure this out soon baby... I promise." Her heart skipped a beat as he called her baby. She felt her cheeks slighty burning but she chassed this idea out of her mind. Nothing else than knowing he would be okay was her priority.
She just wanted him to be less stressed by whatever it was and finally relaxed. Like they used to do... In the beginning. She knew it would never be the same since what happened, but hoping was almost the only thing free she could have right now.
Both of them didn't move and just stayed in the position hearing this silence that usually would be comfortable. She took a breath before she pulled away and moved his head straight. She placed her hands on his shoulders and started a massage feeling how tense he was.
He let a low groan escaping his lips grimacing a little, but soon felt good. He definitely needed that. He closed back his eyes enjoying this little moment of peace she was giving him. Even his breath relaxed. He placed one of his hands on hers making her stop massaging. "Thank you." He said in a whisper. She placed his head on her chest rubbing the side of his hair with her free one.
"Anytime..."
Loren came back quietly thinking they were still asleep and almost dropped the groceries she had forgotten to buy earlier. When she saw them, she smiled to herself and quickly put the stuff at its place before going to the last floor upstairs and clean a little. Layla seeing Loren, she had a small smile too on her face but didn't say anything to not disturb Sebastian. He was too peaceful at that moment.
He pulled her in front of him making her sit on his lap and just hugged her taking her sent. She was making his calm. Her lavander smell made him less stressed and made him calmer. He did need all of her. Whatever she was giving him, he took it all. Even if it was just a hug, or smile... Everything about her made him safe. He didn't want to admit it to himself at first, but with her, he felt safe.
She didn't see the impact she had on him, but he was grateful that was sure. She gave him everything he needed without realizing it. She made him feel again what was a home. What was having a life. And mostly, what was love.
