Raj

After hearing Rudhran's story, Thooriga was completely in a bad mood. She didn't have her lunch or dinner properly. After finishing my work regarding Harshavardhan Estate business, I retire to my room and turn on my iPad to survey Thooriga's room.

The surveillance system is programmed with temperature sensing, and if anyone enters Thooriga's bedroom it'll give an alert by beeping and vibrating. This helps during night time when I need to sleep. The past three days have taken a toll on my body and I plan to sleep, tonight.

I sprang up on bed when the alert system went off and I checked the screen to find an empty bedroom without Thooriga. I take my gun and open my bedroom door to face Thooriga's raised her hand to knock on the door. I release a relieved breath and hug her.

"Ena aachu, Raj?" She asks me and I explain about the alert system. (What happened, Raj?)

"Ohh, enaku thookam varala athaan unkita vanthen. Ulla varalama?" I opened the door wider and let her in. She goes to sit on my bed and pats the other side asking me to join her. (I couldn't sleep so I came to you. May I come in?)

There is no teasing or need in her eyes but disturbance, she is the same way since lunch. I lie on my bed and Thooriga lies down placing her head on my chest, "Won't be teasing you. Just wanted to see whether I'm able to sleep when I'm with you."

"I know," I caress her hair. Though Thooriga looks emotionally strong enough to handle me, she is vulnerable in her own way. She is so light hearted, that she is unable to sleep by hearing the overview of what Jeevitha has gone through. I'm not sure how she would have reacted if she had seen the brutally attacked face of Jeevitha or learnt the detail that Rudhran missed to mention.

"Taran ah namma kita irunthu kootitu poida maatangala? Tina, Tanya alavuku naan avan kooda close aagala un kooda vilaiyaadu rathu la busy ah irunthen" I laugh and she gives a faint smile, "irunthalum bayam ah iruku." (Though I was busy playing with you and couldn't get close with Taran like Tina and Tanya, I'm afraid that they will take Taran away from us.)

"Don't worry Rudhran will do something, he won't lose Taran too." I assure her and she nods her head.

She stays quiet and I close my eyes to catch some but she starts again, "Raj, thonguriya?" (Are you sleeping?)

Nee vita thaane ma thoonga. (Only if you let me sleep.)

"Sollu ma," I yawn. (Tell me.)

"Nee sollu." I look at her with the faint light from the night LED and take my mobile to check for the time which displays 01:28 AM. (You say something.)

"Ask me something," It seems like I won't be able to sleep tonight.

"Enkitta pesa unaku onnum illaya?" She asks in a melancholy voice (Don't you have anything to talk about with me?)

"Thooka kalakam la moolai vela seiya maatenguthu athan nee etha pathi yaachu kelu soldren nu sonnen," I tell her the reality. (In the drowsiness my brain is not working, so I said that you ask something and I'll answer.)

"For ten years this question has been bothering me."

"Which is?"

"How did you manage to book my tickets and pay my fees for ten years without anyone from the family or the management noticing it?" With that question she succeeded in making me sleepless.

"Two of my friends helped me, one in the process of booking tickets and paying fees and other in masking your travel details."

"Rendu friends help pananga thavara enakku vera ethuvum suthama purila, clear ah kozhapita," Thooriga sits up. (Except for the detail that you took help from two of your friends, I don't understand a single bit. You clearly confused me.)
