Play Auditions

Matt's P.O.V.

"Here look." Rory said. "You have to change the color and contrast so that the pictures will blend in better."

We were in computer technology class.

"Yeah but I need this to be colored blue and the rest grey-scale." I told him.

We were finishing up a Photoshop project that was due Monday.

Then Rory clicked some buttons. We were almost finished. We were just changing the colors then we'd be finished.

"So Matt." Rory asked "Will I see you at the play auditions today?"

"Your going to be in the play?" I asked him.

"No I'm in tech crew." Rory said. "But Amy is auditioning."

"She is?"

"Yeah. Are you?"

"Maybe. I haven't really thought about it much." I said looking down at my shoes.

"There is still time to sign up." He told me. "But better do it quickly."

During passing period I decided to talk to Amy at her locker.

"Hey Amy about yesterday-" She put a finger over my lips.

"Matt, it's completely fine." She said. "Let's just forget about it, ok?"

She removed her finger.

"Yeah ok." I said to her.

"I think we have to meet in the library for English class." She told me then started walking down the hallway and I followed her.

"So Rory says your auditioning today." I said to her.

"Yeah. But the question is: are you auditioning?"

"I haven't signed up yet." I told her.

Then she playfully punched me on the arm.

"You do know it's today right?" She said while I rubbed my arm.

"Yeah Rory said there was still time to sign up." I told her.

"Yeah you have to sign up before 8th period starts."

"But I still don't know if I want to do it." I said.

"Look, Matt, if you embarrass yourself then people will laugh at you for a couple of days and then move on." Amy said. "But if you don't I think you have a pretty good chance at getting the lead male role."

"Do you really think so?" I asked.

"Yeah absolutely." She said.

Ok now I think I'll sign up. After English I will go and write my name down.

I was at the sign up chart.

Ok Matt, all you have to do is write your name down. That's it. No strings attached.

Well I'm going to have to audition. It's like Amy said "if I embarrass myself people will get over it."

I took my pencil and then wrote my signature on the blank space.

Then I walked away. I can't change it now.

I was scrambling up papers from my locker. Let's just say I wasn't the most organized person in the world.
