The game for the Iron throne came to its end, the tyrant Queen was slain, a new one was called for and a heir gave up her right to claim the throne.
A throne she fought for not for herself but the dragon queen she fell in love with. The iron throne she sailed her Amazon warriors across the the narrow sea for, a promise was made and to her the promise should be kept if nothing else was.
But that wasn't to be and that wasn't the end of her story.
The iron throne she fought for, the throne she killed dozens if not hundreds for was not wanted by the dragon queen — instead her love stared at her and told her that she no longer wished to be the protector of the realm not when there was one more fit for the position .
So the dragon queen dragged her too see the masses, to hear who they out cried and cheered for. It wasn't the known Targaryen heir but the Queen slayer, the hand of god, the savior of amazons, the hero of Winter fell.
In that very moment her heart pounded loudly in her ears drowning out the sea of support, an army the kneeled before her, the dragon queen that stared at her with a fierce love, devotion, compassion and admiration— pure genuine admiration. That she was to be the one who answered their call.
To her it all felt surreal. When she stood before Cersei holding her sword asking for the woman's surrender — the imposing throne looked small just another fancy chair, maybe because it wasn't hers to sit on.
In that moment she solely wished to give her soulbond the very thing she yearned, suffered for. So she struck the queen down with mercy —
Then Daenerys Stormborne House of Targaryen made a declaration— she renounced all claim to the throne and offered to her instead. So as she stared at the sea of small folk and army she answered their call. She pledged to serve them as they pledged to serve her. She pledged her allegiance to the people , a promise to bring them into a better world, a world they've never seen before. She had every intention on holding to that promise even if she died bringing it forth.
Now as she stood in the Great Hall of the Red Keep the evening before her very coronation. She stared at the Throne made of swords. Once more wondering what possessed the Aegon the conqueror to make a throne out of swords, was it too symbolize the battles fought? Rather a symbol of his triumph over his enemies— spoils of war, she heard the story, Daenerys told her of her great ancestry— Aegon the first Targaryen to conquer six kingdoms and seventh by marriage. Allegedly the 1000 swords that was used to create the throne was surrendered by the lords Aegon I conquered. The breath of the greatest dragon melded it together to create this.
A hand touched her back, she heard the footsteps but she couldn't take her eyes off the throne and what it symbolized, what it meant to be sitting on it and now what it meant when she sat an the iron throne turned an illustrious gold..
"Are you having concerns about your coronation tomorrow?"
Alexandra shook her head, concerns? No . The people supported her even though it was kings landing and the surrounding villages. The only house who kingdom that pledged fealty was high garden. After the week that passed since Cersei's death they had sent a raven to the capital making it clear for their intent to pledge and bend the knee before Alexandra. Surprising her hand but not her entirely. She was sure that it had something to do with her battle at the reach and her offer she made.
"No, the coronation will happen. The rest of the kingdoms are my concern. The houses that bent the knee under Cersei's reign has suffered heavy blows in this war as have those who pledged to you initially. I don't want war to be the answer. I don't want to be known as a conqueror.." she paused and glanced at Daenerys " but just because it's not something I want doesn't mean it's something that'll happen..."
"Perhaps, or they could see that you are the true protector of the realm or do you not believe the prophecy that was taken from the archives of the citadel by the ArchMaester himself?"
Alexandra clasped her hands behind her back. "When the true protector of the realm sits upon the throne made of swords and dragon fire— dragonfire will ignite and the throne will glow a fiery gold with truth.." she quoted from memory. She shook her head " Prophecies after prophecies.. each of them contributes to another of my fathers lies.." she spat angrily. "By believing it I will believe that my father has lied to me my entire life, I need to come to the reality that this—" she gestured wildly "was something he fucking set in motion" she breathed out a harsh breath " No Daenerys, I refuse to believe my life has been one big game to him..and that he played me like a puppet on a string for its entirety." She hadn't realized she was crying until Daenerys cupped her cheeks gently wiping away the falling tears.
"I don't understand what you're going through, you haven't told me everything yet.. but for now. You have done everything you have since you arrived with your own power. He may be the reason you have strength and speed and whatever else. But it's your will to thrive and do better , be better that's ultimately pushed you through every challenge you've faced Alexandra.. you are the writer of your own destiny.. the master of your own fate — you need only believe you are"
Alexandra put her head to Danny's, gently caressing the flat belly. She used her child's small but strong heart beat to calm the raging storm beneath her skin. She didn't have the heart to tell Daenerys just how wrong she was, she was not the writer of her own destiny, the master of her own fate not truly. Her life was ruled by duty — a duty seemingly only she could accomplish and even now that seemed much of a lie , she wasn't to be the one who would bring an end to her half brothers tyranny but rather just a vessel to a dying old man..
"It's late and you need rest." She whispered ending the conversation, she didn't wish to speak of it or what everything meant. All she wanted to do was curl in bed beside Daenerys and Clara once the woman arrived.
Daenerys agreed with a soft smile "Let's go sleep my queen tomorrow you'll show all of Westeros that a new dynasty is to begin"
