Next day, she hurried packing her stuff and headed to the bus stop earlier than her usual time with cab. Madhav heard the noise while he went inside his room to make bed after cooking breakfast and check his things for work like everyday. He thought that she was having her coffee that he has kept in kettle. But he noticed the silence after stepping out from his room.
He went to the kitchen to see that she has finished her breakfast. With a question in his mind, he searched for her and found that she has left before him. The simple action lowered his mood. Yet he convinced himself that she might have some work to finish sooner. He had his breakfast and headed to the cab.
In the office, she sat in the very far corner from his seat. He peeked at her and tried hard to gain her attention. But she kept her eyes focused on her writing. She discussed with others and did her work. She saw him immediately after her arrived but forced herself to ignore his presence. The feelings she had developed has threatened her. She didn't want to give him false hopes. She found that hard to do beside him. So, she thought of avoiding him.
Madhav's mood became sour when he realised that she's been avoiding him. He thought of acting the same. But his mind desperately wanted to speak with her. The days they spent together might be little. But he realised the strong connection he felt towards her. When he reached the house, he thought things would turn to normal. But she just faked a smile and locked herself in her room.
That has pained him a lot than what he had thought. Following days continued torturing him in that way. She spoke to him once or twice. But they were so formal. He felt like being treated as a stranger. He didn't want that from her.
So, after two weeks of patience, he stopped her before going to her room in the evening. He held her wrist firmly. When she looked at him, he left her hand.
"I'm sorry. But..I need to speak with you". He said.
Though her heart beats rose, she faked a smile and said, "Sure. Do tell me".
"Don't". He said with a pain. "Please don't force the smile. I don't know what I've done wrong. If I have, I'm ready to correct that. Can we be like before?"
He sounded so genuine. So, Nethra couldn't take that anymore
"I can't". She bursted out.
