Thor runs around the building, opening every door in sight, only to slam it shut when he didn't see Loki.

"LOKI!"

"WHERE ON MIDGARD ARE YOU?"

"LOKI! LOKI!"

Thor stops to take a breather, brows furrowed in worry for his brother. Loki very rarely shows any signs of pain, this is a whole new ball park and it is very obvious to Thor that Loki is triggered by Y/n's similarity to Y/an. Thor hasn't seen Loki in such a state since their mother was killed.

Thor starts to stroll in thought and walks past the library door, seeing it to be slightly open, not how he left it. He hears the rustling of pages and panting inside.

"Loki?"

He slowly opens the door to see Loki running,  yanking books from the shelves to quickly flick through them, onlt to shove them back to go to another shelf and do the same, all with a panic-stricken face. Thor has never seen anything like it, Loki is usually very precious with literature. Thor's frustration melts, knowing he needs to approach this delicately or Loki will shut himself away.

"Loki, listen, hey Loki, look at me." Thor holds his palms out peacefully, tone softening. "Loki stop, please."

But Loki keeps on running around, completely ignoring him.

"Loki? Can you hear me?!" Thor decides this approach isn't working so he strides up to Loki and throws him on the ground, pressing his shoulders down so he can't move. He looks directly into Loki's eyes, calmly speaking, "Loki, look at me, now."

Loki immediately tries to fight off Thor, flaying out his limbs until Thor secures a firmer grip. Loki grunts, out of breath,"Let. Me. Go." Loki summons his knife but is too restricted to escape.

"You heard what Y/n said didn't you?" Thor tilts his head to the side.

Loki heaves, cathcing his breath, until he sighs and relaxes a little. He then processes Thor's question, scrunching his face up, and holding back his grief, then nodding.

Thor sighs, "Now, I see why this is hard for you brother-"

"Hard? Hard?! Thor, it's them, it's Y/an, how could they be anyone else?!"

"Loki, listen carefully-"

"Thor, they look identical!"

"Yes they are very similar, now that doesn't mean it's them."

"Their eyes Thor..." Loki punches the ground, "they have the same pattern, you know no-one else has those irides!"

Thor snorts in disbelief and shakes his head. But Loki seems so insistent, and sure, Y/n does share very unique features with Y/an. He sits back down, letting go of Loki with defeat.

"Its them Thor, it's Y/an," Loki's voice cracks, "You can't convince me otherwise. I saw their power aura, it's the sa-"

"I'm sorry Loki, it just seems so impossible, I can't wrap my head around it."

"Well I can't either. As you said, they died in my arms." Loki's chest tightens and he cletches his fists after wiping his eyes with a quick motion.

The brothers sit in silence, each wanting to say something, but don't know what. Thor rubs the back of his neck before saying, "Look, I'm sure there is something, an explanation as to how they are alive and how they don't remember us."

"That's what I'm doing now, I'm trying to find any records of the battle to try get an idea of how Y/an's body went missing."

"But Loki, you saw them die."

"I KNOW!" Loki screams.

Thor looks down to the floor, almost flinching at the sheer pain radiating from Loki.

Loki stands up again and starts to pace the floor, "Something must have happened to them when they went missing. Something must have been needed for them to go missing." he runs his fingers over the spines of a shelf, the dust flying off. "Why would someone steal a dead body in the midst of a battle?"

Thor pauses, wracking his mind for answers as Loki continues, "Remember when Y/an hinted to us that they had a really heavy secret to do with their powers. But they never told us, did they? Could it be a thought that this power may be to do with their disappearance."

Thor stands up slowly, remembering this criptic hint from ages ago, and it is very odd for someone to take a dead body and not report it. Or the absence of bragging from the enemy side."I never thought about it that way. Maybe you are on to something Loki, Y/an couldn't have disapeared for innocent reasons."

They then both start looking for any account of the battle together.

As they search, from crack through the door boots clunk closer until a woman wearing a black catsuit with red hair walks in with utter confusion at the two Gods. "What are you boys shouting about, this is a library after all. Also, why is Tony so pissed off?"

"Whatever do you mean Natasha?" Asks Thor who is ruffling through book pages.

"Well I just got back from the unsuccessful mission and I went to tell him, but he threw a waffle at me."

"Oh, well, you know, young mortals?" Thor smirks.

"What? Has Peter been a nuisance?"

"No, it is actually a long story, you'll find out soon enough." Thor turns back to searching.

"Wow, don't leave me on the edge like that Thor. Anyway, I'll see you Gods later. I've been asked to help prep the hidden room, I'll need your help later Thor."

"Ok, no worries, I'll be over in an hour. And its probably best if you avoid Tony for a bit."

She rolls her eyes and leaves the library, boots clucking away.

Thor and Loki both continue searching for accounts of the battle, but it is no use. There aren't any to find.

"Loki, we have been searching for hours, I think it is time to stop and find other means to solve this mystery."

"No, there must be something!"

"All we have found are the usual statements we used to inform the people of our victory."

"How is it a victory? How can it be a victory if I lost the person most important to me?!" He forcefully points.

Thor lowers his head once again, "I think it is best if we treat Y/n like someone we haven't met before, not like somebody we used to know. Otherwise we will just confuse them, and if we are wrong it could cause problems. Make a fresh start with them, do that for me brother, for Y/an."

Loki looks like he is going to argue back, his jaw clenched, but he pauses. His eyes dart until he, sighs and nodds. "Ok... I'll do it for Y/an."
