Jasmine's POV

Beautiful. He told me I look beautiful. Butterflies took off in my stomach as they usually do when Ryder says something sweet to me. I don't even know if I managed to get the words "thank you" out. He's standing at my front door, to pick me up for our date, looking into my eyes with his warm brown one's. He looks so good in his jeans and a button down. Somehow the smile he has on his face adds to his ensemble and it makes me smile back. I've been thinking about this date for days now and it's finally here. I'd be lying if I said I'm not nervous.

"Jas?" Ryder's voice said snapping me back to reality, "Did you hear me?"

Oh no I completely missed what he said.

I bit my lip. "I'm sorry. I must have zoned out."

He chuckled and my heart melted at his laugh. "It's ok. I said these are for you," he held up flowers in his hand, "I remember you saying something about how you love spring colored plants so I got you a bunch of different flowers that are bright. Kind of hard to find in the winter but you're obviously worth it. And now I'm rambling but ok yeah...these are for you."

"Thank you. They're beautiful. I'm gonna put them in water, do you want to come in real quick? Besides my mom really wants to meet you, if that's ok?" I said unsure.

"Of course it's ok." Ryder came inside and I closed the door behind him.

"Mom! Ryder's here!"

I wrapped his hand in mine walking him to the kitchen. Once we got to the kitchen I realized what I had done.

"Oh sorry." I whispered unwrapping his hand from mine. I looked down at my shoes.

"Why are you sorry? That's nothing to me sorry about, Jas. Are you ok?" He whispered to me using his finger to lift up my chin.

"I'm nervous." I admitted.

"For our date?" He grinned.

"Yes for our date. Don't laugh at me, Ryd." I lightly slapped his arm.

"I'm not laughing, I just think it's cute. But seriously Jas, don't be nervous. We've hung out just the two of us plenty of times. If it makes you feel better, I was nervous too...and I don't get nervous. I should be the one getting nervous. I have to impress a beautiful girl."

"You already have impressed me." I said with a smile.

"That's good but it only means I have to try even harder now to impress you again and again. I'm not gonna settle for you."

I lightly grabbed the collar of his shirt to pull him in for a kiss. Right when our lips met I heard my mom clear her throat behind us.

"Awh wow! Couple of the year." My mom said loudly. Oh god why did she have to have Cuban roots that made her loud.

"Mom." I groaned slightly embarrassed as Ryder just laughed.

"Hi Mrs. Lopez, I'm Ryder, nice to meet you." Ryder said with a smile on his face. I watched as my mom pulled him into a hug.

"I should be interrogating you, making sure you're a good guy, but I can tell you are if you make my daughter happy. So I'm not gonna keep you guys waiting. Have fun and don't be out too late." She smiled at us and winked at me. Oh my gosh we need to leave before she does something else to embarrass me.

"Thanks mom, love you." I hugged her goodbye and Ryder said his goodbyes before I dragged him out of the house.

"Your mom's nice." He said as we walked to his car.

I smiled. "She can be a little much sometimes but yeah, she is." I was about to open his passenger side door when he beat me to it. "Such a gentleman." I smiled.
