Ryder's POV

"Ok Ryder, you seriously need to sit down." Brad said. I had been pacing the room for who knows how long. I couldn't stop thinking about Jasmine.

"I can't sit still. I'm going crazy."

"Yeah crazy for Jasmine." He laughed. I glared at him causing him to put up his hands in defense.

"Sorry. Tell me what happened. You spent the whole day with your mate, how could something have gone wrong?"

"That's the thing, Brad. Nothing went wrong. It was perfect," I sighed, "she's perfect. She taught me how to slow dance-"

"You didn't know how to slow dance?"

I sent him another look.

"Ok sorry not the point. Carry on."

"And then she said she thinks werewolves are cool and she likes things that have history just like I do, and we like the same music and fuck, Brad it took all my might not to kiss her when we were that close."

"Ok wait how exactly did werewolves come into the conversation? You didn't..."

"No I didn't tell her you idiot-"

"Ok I know you get like this sometimes but I'm literally the only person who's going to listen to your sappy romantic shit so be nice or else I'm leaving." He tested.

"Right sorry thanks. Well I took her to the lake and we were dancing, because she was teaching me for the mother-son dance, and she said I was abnormally warm and I said something about how maybe it's not normal and I'm a werewolf. You know, just joking around to see what she said. And then she said that that would be cool and having a world no one else knew about is cool and what the hell, Brad, my heart's pounding just talking about it."

"Wait wait you took her to the lake? As in your lake? The lake you've never taken anyone to?" I nodded then watched him as he grinned.

"Dude...sounds to me like you're whipped. Like absolutely utterly whipped. Cherry on top and everything. Awh, how cute!"

If Brad and I didn't have the same sense of humor, and he wasn't my best friend and future beta, I'd punch him.

"Ok well what do I do?"

"Ask her on a date."

"I can't."

"Why not?"

I sighed.

He smiled, "Exactly."

"What if she says no?"

"She won't."

I rolled my eyes, "You don't know that."

"Ryder, I'm insulted. You and I both know I know everything," he grinned, "She's your mate, she likes you, she won't say no. You said it yourself; you can hear her heart beat pick up when you're around, she can barely make eye contact with you for too long before her cheeks turn red, and she skipped school with you after knowing you for two days...she likes you."

"But what if she's worried it's too quick?"

"It's a date, Ryder. You're not asking for her hand in marriage."

"Well what if-"

"Stop coming up with excuses. You're a soon to be Alpha who just found his mate, do something about it. You're soulmates, everything will be good. Don't be nervous."

"I'm not nervous...," I said scratching the back of my neck, "What would I have to be nervous about?"

"I don't know. Maybe the fact that you finally found someone who reminds you that you have feelings and you're not the big bad alpha all the time."

Yeah even though Brad could be a pain in the ass, when he's right, he sure does make a hell of a good friend.
