morning headaches and longing hours of endless information like people gathered for mass seemed to be the norm for you since starting college. sure you were putting your effort and work, studying throughout the day to earn the feedback you so desired from professors, but by god did you need a break from this reality. or at least something new to come up from your routine that rotated like the wheel of time from school, work, study, and sleep.
despite the chaos of student life, just like many others in your lectures you would seek some sanctuary at the local coffee shop within the city. not to far from where you stayed as it was within walking distance, bag slung on shoulder your little journey to the coffee shop was always calming. besides on days where rain did not see you as a friend, having you run seeking shelter with your bag over your head. luckily today was one of the kinder days, heavy bag full of study material filling the weight as you would spend the next few hours going over material.
familiar jingle as you stepped through the door, waiting in line as you debated on which order to get. still pretty early in the school year, the sun grew bright and pleased. opting for something on the colder side, you ordered and waited beside the counter along with a few others.
atmosphere being calm and collected, many other students had seated themselves on the tables typing away on laptops, a few couples spending their time with another, and other lingering people within the shop.
when the barista announced the drink that matched yours, you reached your hands to take it without looking away from your phone in your other hand. though, what surprised you was the warmth that you touched, realizing there was something else you look up to see another hand wrapped around the drink. his fingertips brushing against your own as you hope they didn't feel the slight dryness from the autumn winds.
"oh my mistake! i guess we ordered the same drink," the man said retrieving his hand. you retrieved yours as well as he continues to speak, "you can have it" he gives you a kind smile.
in all honesty, the man in front of you had intimidating features though his voice and actions disclosed the opposite seeming sweet and gentle. you smiled at him.
"no it's fine you should take it, i wasn't looking in the first place," replying though he protests.
"no i insist-" he was cut off with the other drink being slid on the counter, "actually take the newer one, it'll be colder."
wrapping his hand around the new drink he hands it to you before you could even say no, you thanked him as he takes the drink.
"you're welcome," he flashes you another warm smile before walking towards the door. seating yourself down a nice table looking out the window, you saw him enter a car. probably a friend since he entered the passenger seat. by surprise he catches your curious gaze and waves goodbye to your, the same dopey little smile.
