Chapter Thirty Six

Cassidy's P.O.V

"They know where we are!" Tom Scott yelled.

"How sir?" another man yelled.

They were moving everything out, including me. My legs were unbound so that I could walk, but my hand were still tied and four men with guns walked behind me.

"I don't know!" he yelled.

When he saw me, he strode over a pushed me to the floor. I landed hard and stones from the floor scrapped my face.

"What's so special about you hmm? Why are they looking for you?" he asked.

"I don't know," I replied. "Maybe you should ask them before they kill you!"

He kicked me in the side where the bullet wound was. I doubled over in pain.

I noticed a man with a black beard strolling over to us. He wasn't that old, but from the way he held himself, I could tell that he was in charge here.

"Scott, don't make her harder to transport!" he called.

His accent was thick. I recognised it as the sort of accent that we heard in the Middle East. His hair was black and he was wearing a white robe with a beige turban on his head.

I began to push myself off the floor.

"Iraq," I said.

"What did you say b****?!" he demanded.

"I said Iraq!" I yelled at him.

His face hardened and the men all around him tensed. I knew from that that I should fear this man, but I didn't.

"You have a mouth on you," he said. "Here, we do not like outspoken women. You wear trousers and a military uniform. That should not be aloud".

I gave him a crooked smile.

"I am not from your country. I follow the rules of mine," I told him.

"Why do they come for you?" he asked.

I switched to speaking in Arabic which was widely used in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"They are not coming for me, they are coming for you," I raised me voice as loud as it would go. "They are coming for all of you! You don't stand a chance! They will slaughter you!" I yelled.

He looked shocked for a moment.

"You must be something special to that navy if they will sent two destroyers and a borrowed aircraft carrier after you," he said.

Without warning, his fist connected with my face. The blood welled up in my mouth. I spat it onto his feet.

"You have no idea," I told him, but the words hurt more than the punch. Borrowed aircraft carrier? Why would they do that? With the Falcon Squadron gone, they didn't have many pilots trained to fly as well as we could. It was too dangerous for anyone to come out here. What were they thinking?

He didn't say anything else to me, instead he turned to Tom Scott.

"She had better be worth the trouble," he hissed.

I didn't know who that man was, but from the look in his eyes, I knew that he was trouble.

Little did I know that that would be the man that was the end of me.

We had been called down to the Royal Navy base. It had been two days since the demands had been made, that meant five days until we lose Cassidy forever.
