Missing in Action
Chapter Forty
Louis' P.O.V
After our first tour in One Direction, I treasured the times that I was allowed to spend at home. They were always so special to me.
I would spend as much time as possible with my family. I would even manage to coax Lottie out of her room which was becoming almost impossible.
However, it had never seemed right without Cassidy next door or knowing that in a few hours we could go somewhere and have a laugh together.
It took me almost a year to forgive her when she joined the Navy; I didn't know how long it would take me to forgive her now.
I knew that the government weren't going to meet the demands and I had little hope for a rescue.
The terrorists had moved out of where they had been holding her. Admiral Sheffield had said that they must have guessed that they were coming. I knew that even the Admiral didn't believe that she would survive.
I felt like we'd all given up on her and we were here just to watch her fall away from us.
I leaned my head against the window and listened to the patter of rain against it. The world seemed to like mocking me with rain lately.
Cassidy was our everything. She had held us all together without even knowing it. I just wanted her back and to be safe. I wanted us to be able to laugh like we used to do when we were just teenagers that didn't understand the world.
Life becomes so complicated when you grow up. Everything that you think is simple never really is.
Cassidy joined the navy, and everything was still okay. Sure, I went three months at a time without seeing her, but she would always show up at her house again after with a smile on her face like she had never even gone.
That changed after I followed my dream on the X Factor.
Management had made it clear from the start that they had to know everything about the people that we loved so that the press couldn't surprise us in any way. I knew that I couldn't tell them about Cassidy. Even Simon had told me that they couldn't know, so I didn't tell them, but I knew that it meant that I could never be seen with Cassidy and I could never mention her.
When the tours with One Direction started, I didn't manage to find time to see her and she was fading away from everyone as her dad's health got worse.
I almost lost her completely after Mike died.
She didn't talk to anyone for weeks after the funeral. I was worried about her because I knew that if she stopped talking to me then I would never cope on my own.
It was a huge relief when she did finally talk to me again.
I wondered how I would cope without her if she never came back. I couldn't see myself being able to do it. I would always miss her if she died, and I would always think about how much she meant to me. I needed Cassidy May Rhian Davis to survive.
I moved my head away from the window because my face was turning numb from the cold. As I shifted and my bag fell off the end of the window seat. I leaned down to pick it up.
A few things had fallen out of it and onto the floor. I shoved a few bits and pieces that didn't catch my attention back into the bag without looking to see watch they were.
The last item however did catch my attention.
It was a blue notebook and it had fallen open when it had fallen out of my bag.
