Chapter Fifteen

Cassidy's P.O.V

A massive, black radioactive cloud flew up into the sky. It began to blow towards the village.

The sound of our initial attacked had panicked them, but the cloud turning the sky black was making them panic even more. Even from this height, I could see people trying to outrun death.

"Skipper, this is Falcon Two! The radioactive dust is engulfing the village! Those people need emergency medical help right NOW!" I yelled.

I looked at my radar, but it was fuzzy with static. I couldn't anyone from my squadron, or any of the Kite squadron.

"Boys! Come in boys!" I said frantically.

They didn't respond. I began to wonder if my radio was down as well as my radar, but the tone was still there.

I was still taking fire from the fort on the mountain side. The launchers still hadn't been destroyed.

"Boys, you've gotta say something!" I yelled.

They still didn't respond.

I flew around trying to dodge the spiralling cloud and try to look for the boys. If they were in that cloud, they were dead.

I began to fly in the opposite direction to the wind so that I wasn't engulfed in the swirling black mass.

I still couldn't see them. I was beginning to panic. I couldn't be the only survivor, they had to live.

I could hear bullets zipping past me in their hundreds.

"This is Falcon One to all Falcons, report status!" James exclaimed.

"I'm here Falcon One," I said in relief. "I'm here".

"This .s F... Thr.e" a static voice said.

"Is that Henry?" I asked.

"Yep," James replied.

Eventually, we all fell back into formation. Ben's radio wasn't working, Henry's wasn't getting any better but Peter's was fine.

"We'll have to destroy that fort!" James exclaimed as he flipped over to avoid the bullets.

"I'll get the gunmen on the west parapet," I said.

"I'll knock out those launchers," James said.

"I've got you covered on the east side," Henry said.

"Falcon Four and Falcon Five you need to get anything that we miss," James ordered.

"Copy that Falcon One!" Ben said.

We spilt up and headed towards the fort. We deployed the bombs like clockwork as we approached.

Within seconds, the fort was nothing but a burning fire and a pile of rubble. The flames licked at the wood that had once been a part of a proud structure that was no more.

"That'll please the Russians," Henry remarked sarcastically.

I let myself laugh at the joke as we circled around again.

"They're Russians! They don't care if it's not on their land!" I exclaimed.

I looked over to see Henry smiling and I smiled myself.

"Ben? What the hell are you doing?" James asked suddenly.

I looked at my radar. Ben was flying everywhere and his plane kept shooting forwards and then falling back slowly.
