Chapter Twenty One

Louis' P.O.V

I stared out onto the street. The clock had recently chimed ten and the darkness of the night had barely finished creeping in.

Most houses in the street still had faint lights glowing through the windows, but the light didn't reach the street. The street itself was lit by six street lamps that cast a large orange circle onto the silent, still road. It shouldn't be that still.

A slight breeze brushed the trees about making them sway gracefully. The birds had also finished chirping for the day as well.

I let the curtain fall back into place and I moved away from the window.

I went into the kitchen and sat down at the table. There wasn't anyone in the kitchen, but I didn't care. The house was so full at the moment, but I felt lonely.

I knew that the boys were in the living room watching the TV, my sisters were upstairs somewhere, but my mum had gone to spend the night at Jane's which was next door. She had gone because of the 'the groom shouldn't see the bride on their wedding day' tradition.

I checked my phone again, but there was nothing.

I sighed deeply and ran my hand through my hair.

The minutes ticked by, and I got that horrible feeling in my gut again.

I heard the front door open and I ran out of the kitchen. My mum stood in the hallway.

"Have you seen my new shoes?" she asked sheepishly when she saw me.

I rolled my eyes at her and walked over to the cupboard under the stairs. I took a white shoebox out and handed it to her.

"Oh thank god! I've been looking for these everywhere!" she exclaimed.

She opened the box and checked that both were still in it. She had a massive smile on her face.

"Has Cassidy come home yet?" I asked.

My mum's face softened. I hadn't meant to ruin her smile, but I had been dying to ask someone just in case I had missed her coming home.

"Not yet honey," she replied.

My face dropped.

"But there's still time Lou," she added softly.

"I know, it's just every hour passes and I get more and more worried," I said.

My mum hugged me and held me tightly like she used to do when I was younger and was upset. I hugged her back.

"She's Cassidy Davis, the fireproof girl," my mum whispered. "She's probably stuck in traffic somewhere".

"Probably," I mumbled.

"Edward and John are the same," she said after a while.

"What do you mean?" I asked thinking about the twins.

"Well let's put it this way, there're worse than you!" my mum exclaimed.

"You'd better go," I told her. I was trying to change the subject.

"I know," she said, "I just don't want you worrying".

"I'll be fine!" I groaned.

"I know, I just still get worried about you sometimes," she said.

"I am twenty two mum," I stated.

"And I'm still your mother!" my mum exclaimed.

"Go on, get out! You have a wedding to get ready for!" I exclaimed shooing her out of the door.

She laughed and opened the door.

"Okay! I'm going!" she called.

I watched her walk down the path and disappear into the house next door. I closed the door softly and then I went back into the kitchen.

I found Niall in there looking for food. When he saw me he stopped.

"You had a text," he simply said and then he continued his hunt.

"There's popcorn in the next cupboard," I said as I picked my phone up off the table.

"Thanks!" he exclaimed as he went back into the living room with the bag of toffee popcorn in his hand.

Niall had been right. I did have a text. I opened it and read it.

From: Eleanor
Will you stop walking around like a sad puppy! xx

Eleanor was spending the night at Jane's house with my mum. She had probably been told by now that I was slightly worried.

But I didn't want to stop worrying. Cassidy still hadn't come home, and she hadn't told me that she wasn't going to come. She always told me if she wasn't going to come home.

She was out there somewhere, but I didn't know where. That scared the hell out of me.
