Intertwined Destinies: A play on Neji's obsession with Destiny before Naruto beasts some sense into him.

Name: Asuka Azure - she takes her father's surname so she doesn't have the Hyuga name. her name means 'Flying Bird' in Japanese which connects to how Neij describes the curse seal making the wearer like a 'Caged bird'.

Background:

Asuka is a distant relative of the Hyuga Clan who was born outside of the village. Her family has not produced any offspring who have awakened the Byakugan for a few generations and were not considered full members of the clan anymore. Despite this, the elders of the clan arranged a marriage between Asuka and Neji when they were born as a way to keep the Byakugan within the clan and not having to worry about marrying someone too closely related to the other. It was assumed by the main branch that Asuka did not posses the Byakugan, though her relation to the clan would guarantee any children she birthed would posses the Byakugan if she married a Hyuga. What they did not know however, was that shortly after she was born, Asuka had awakened the Byakugan that had remained dormant in her family line for generations only to reappear in her. Seeing this, her parents were afraid that the main clan could force her to live in the main compound and take her away from them, as well as place the clan seal on their daughter to controle her. Knowing this, they kept her Byakugan a secret and Asuka was secretly taught by her grandparents how to fight and studied medical ninjuitsu to intergrade in her fighting style. Focusing on pressure points and chakra points while fighting so she could not only disable ones chakra network but also their bodily functions if need be. Years go by and it is decided that at the age of 12, she would move to the hidden leaf village and meet Neji, giving the two enough time to get to know one another until they would be married at 16-18 years old. Neither of the two had met one another before then other than a breif interaction after the Hyuga Incident during Hizashi's funeral. Asuka remained cautious about the engagment and wasn't sure how to feel about it, wanting to know Neji first and want his opinion on the matter instead of condemning him on something neither of them could controle. Neji on the other hand despised the thought of having his marriage partner chosen by the clan and become bitter from a young age about it. He didn't refuse the marriage but saw it as his destiny that he was forced to have as he was born in the side branch. He was also under the impression that she was a civillian who would never understand him, someone who was probebly groomed to be a wife and had no interest in getting to know her. Opting to avoid her completely after hearing of her arrival in Konoha and using training as an excuse to escape their impending meeting. After comming to Konoha, Asuka manages to prove her strength and is approved to become a ninja by the Hokage, starting her training under Anko Mitarashi and occationally teaming up with team Guy, though her being Neji's fiancé is not known to the group and Neji doesn't realise who she is at first. She interacts with the team for a few weeks until she and Neji are officially introduced by the clan enders and Neji realises who she is. He ghosts her after this realisation and takes out his frustrations on her if they ever train until he gets some sense beaten into him by Naruto in the Chunin Exams where he then apologises to Asuka profusely and gets his act together.

Being forced into an arranged marriage is also hard.

But being forced into an engagment with a destiny obsessed Hyuga with family issues and a resting bitch face definite takes the cake.

Asuka as been engadged to Neji since they were born, with neither of them having ever met outside one breif interaction at his father funeral. To say that they are upset about the engagment would be an understatement, though at least Asuka is willing to talk things through.

A Shame that Mr Destiny isn't the talking type and is hell bent on avoiding her at all costs.

Oh, and did she mention that she has been hiding her Byakugan from the main clan since before she could walk? No? Well...Oops.

Suggestions:

Asuka lives outside of Konoha for the first 12 years of her life and is trained by her shinobi grandfather who teached her noth fighting, Tai-Chi and medical ninjuitsu that all developed int her own unique fighting style.

Since she has the Byakugan but has no Hyuga to teach her, she has had to teach herself how to use the Byakugan and has thus developed her own unique way of using it in battle. Focusing on disabling opponents and causing internal injuries with quick and precise movements using both the gentle fist and medical ninjutsu.

She could also learn Chakra Strings and Acupuncture to merge with her fighting style.

In order to hide her Byakugan, she wears contact lenses that make it look as though she has normal black pupils with pale blue irises. Not only that, but she has memorised that positions off all the chakra points so she doesn't need to use her Byakugan to hit them.

The Hyuga Clan elders are all under the impression that she doesn't posses the Byakugan and is a Civillian, intending her to become a stay at home wife for Neji and keep the Byakugan within hte clan without bringing in any outsiders into the Hyuga.

Originally, if Neji hadn't died in Cannon, their was a good chance that he would have been married off to Hinata's younger sister Hanabi, despite being direct cousins, as this was how these clans work. 

The same happened in the Uchiha clan since both Fugaku and Mikoto were both Uchiha before their marriage so they would have been related in one way or another.

Neji is likely going to try and keep this engagment from his team because he doesn't want them to make a big deal out of it. that and he is unlikely to bring it up anyway though if Guy and Lee do find out, youthful kayos is soon to follow.

Asuka teaches herself a way to manually open her inner gates by opening and closing them manually. She can also forcible open them on another person and if that person doesn't know how to control the influx in chakra and/or close the gates, they could die.

Because of the acupuncture and medical knowledge, she can block of chakra channels but also stop blood flow, nerve signals and affect tendons making limbs useless or help stop blood flow when someone is injured.

I'd like to have her become friends with Hinata. While she is living in the main compound while she is in the hidden leaf village, Neij would likely be out on mission or training. Other than this, before he gets some sense beaten into him by Naruto, he'll avoid her live the plague while in the compound so while she lives their for months, Neij doesn't realise who his fiancé actually is.

Other than Hinata, I can see Asuka becoming friends with Ten Ten and they can easily bond over their use of weapons and Asuka may even go to Ten Ten regularly for references to good weapon shops and Senbon and train together.
