Name: Airi Uzumaki - meaning 'Love' in Japanese. This links to Gaara's tattoo on his forehead. Her last name is of course the same as Naruto's and the name 'Uzumaki' means 'Whirlpool' or 'Mailstrome' in Japanese.

Background:

Airi Uzumaki is Naruto's younger twin sister. On the night she was born, her father sealed some of Kurama's chakra within her as well as some of his own chakra and Kushina's. Unlike Naruto, however, the amount of tailed beast chakra sealed within her was much less than him, as Minato feared the chakra would affect her health, Airi being born considerably weaker than Naruto as this sometimes happens with twins. The Tailed Beast Chakra sealed within her was a huge amount, but not enough for a tailed beast to manifest within her. Kind of like Kinkaku and Ginkaku who were swallowed by the nine tails and ate him from the inside until he threw them back up again. Not long after she was born, enemy ninja broke into the village in an attempt to steal the new junchuriki. They knew Kushina had red hair and expected her child to also have this trait so they took Airi instead of Naruto. While fleeing the land of fire, they were intercepted by ninja and forced to change their course to the land of wind where they were again stopped by Sand ninja. The Sand ninja were able to kill them and took Airi back Suna without knowing who she was. At his time, Gaara, who was only a few months old, was having trouble containing Shukaku and the Kazekage was at his wit's end. Just as Airi was brought in, Shukaku had started acting up again and the Kazekage was forced to seal some of the escaping Chakra into Airi before things got more dangerous. From this, Airi had a mix of two tailed beast chakra's within her, each not enough to form one beast alone but together, they merged to create a new-tailed beast. The desert fox: Kitsuna. Airi is kept separate from Gaara and kept under close observation when the Kazekage realizes that she had become a Jinchuriki, believing that she is holding another part of the one tails and not another beast entirely. She was the backup plan if Gaara failed to control his tailed beast and would be the vessel to hold the rest of Shukaku after Gaara was assassinated, which nobody had managed to do. Airi was taught to be a ninja outside of the academy and she excelled greatly even at a young age. One day, she heard that the Kazakage had planned to assassinate Gaara and so, she snuck out to try and protect him. On the same night, the Kazakage tried to test her the same way he had tested Gaara and they both lost control of their tailed beasts. Gaara and Airi from then on were inseparable and the Kazakage saw them both as too dangerous to be kept alive but any attempt on their lives failed and the two only got closer as they would only trust themselves and each other. While Gaara withdrew from everyone but Airi and was filled with Hate, Airi would still show kindness to others, despite not trusting them, and would always get hurt by rejection. Gaara become protective of her as someone who knew what he was going through and Shukaku himself was even very protective of her because of Kitsuna who he saw as a younger sister. Kitsuna herself was like a child and grew up alongside Airi.
