Chapter 42: new relationships and beginnings

Ryan backed away and leaned against the wall. Jc darted his eyes to him then to me. "Go on Jc, tell her. You know Nally loves honesty." Ryan said with a devious smile.

"Look baby, I was gonna tell you." he grabbed my hands. "Tell me what? That you and my best friend fu--" the door opened wide.

"Well my meeting was canc--" It was Ally. "What's going on here?" She set down her bag. "You said when you get back we'd talk. Well let's talk." I pulled my hands away from Jc's grip.

Ryan grabbed Jc firmly by the shoulder and threw him on the couch. Ally sat next to him. I sat on the coffee table. Ryan stood behind them in case they tried to escape.

"What's this about?" Ally asked. "You and Jc." Her eyes opened wide. "You and him were in the guest bedroom til midnight I hear." I said with an almost angry smile.

"Nally it isn't what you think!" Ally said. "then what Ally? I want to believe you two did nothing but you were there til late, you were both drunk." Ally stood up and I did too.

"Nally, I hardly remember anything from that night but I swear we didn't do it!" She said. I glanced at Ryan. He went down the hall.

"Well. Let's see if your story checks out." I felt so much pain in my stomach for accusing my best friend, but I have to... Right?

Ally and Jc walked behind Ryan and I behind them. I felt like a prison guard. Ryan opened the door. He flipped the bed, tore off the covers and checked the trash bin.

"Anything?" I asked. "I found a little something something." I walked in and Ryan held up an old tape recorder. "Hmm. You find the tape that goes with it?" I asked.

He looked through the trash and pulled out one. "You two, please take a seat." Ryan placed the mattress back on the bed.

I clicked the rewind button, then pressed play. Ryan say against the door and I in a computer chair. It took a minute until it played.

"Oh my glob you're so stupid!" It sounded like Ally's voice. "I wasn't the one that drab like 5 tequila shots." it was Jc. "Yes you did" Ally laughed.

"Oh ya." Jc laughed. Then there was sound of a bed. "Stop jumping on the bed!" Ally yelled. "You're gonna make me throw up." She laughed.

"Sorry." Jc said. It was quiet for a second. "Do you think Nally will come back?" Ally asked. I turned my head to her. "I don't know... She is like a butterfly... She has to fly you know..." Jc stated.

"But she still loves us. She wouldn't leave without a justifiable reason." Jc said. "Ya that's true... Did you know that when we first met we hated each other?" Ally said with a giggle.

I smiled and glanced at her, she was smiling too. "You did?" Jc laughed. "Ya, we were in 6 grade and there was this girl that was friends with me at first named Britt." She began. "Britt was friends with her too then invited all three of us to have lunch in the cafeteria." Ally laughed.

"Her and I didn't talk much but Britt did. Well afterwards I said something about Oreos and she said the same thing. And we found out we liked and did a lot of the same things." I looked over at Ally.

She was smiling and wiping away a tear. "then we had computer class but Britt took music. So I asked Nally if I could sit next to her since I didn't really know anyone. Then we started talking and we became best fiends, we sat next to each other everyday in computer class." I felt a few tears and I smiled wider.

"Damn, And you guys have been friends for almost 7 years." Jc said. "Ya, were practically sisters. I can't believe that this all stated from hate, then Oreos, then computers." Ally laughed.

"Ha, she sure is something special, I don't think I could be the same after her." Jc said. Then the tape cut out. I wiped away tears and Ryan was smiling.

I looked at Ally. She looked up at me. "I'm sorry..." I said with a shaky voice. Ally gave me a hug.

We both laughed through tears, then Jc came to me and said "What I said about not being the same without you... I meant it..." Ryan opened the door and Ally and him left. "We'll give you two a little privacy." Ryan said, then I heard giggling.

"And before yo--" I kissed him. That dream left me so scared that I could lose all the people I love. But when I pulled away I realized that Jc hadn't said 'I love you' in real life...

I tried to ignore that fact. "But that night Ally and I were here all I kept thinking was I realized I..." I waited impatiently for the answer.

"I love you Nally..." he blurted out. My eyes lite up. "I love you too Jc." he smiled and kissed me. "Awe!" I heard through the wall.

"Guys you're embarrassing me!" I laughed and Jc smiled. "Were your best friends that our job!" They laughed. I shook my head and kissed Jc.

We went to the living room and saw Ryan on the phone, Ally was making some food. Jc sat down next to Ryan. I walked over to Ally.

"Sooo everything all good?" She nudged me. "Good? We dropped the 'L' bomb." I whispered. "Aweee!" Ally squealed.

I smiled. "So whose Ryan on the phone with?" I asked. "Some girl. Not really sure who but they've known each other for a while." ally stated.

"Hmm. Well I'm gonna call my parents." Ally patted my back and I picked up the phone and went out to the balcony.

I dialed my moms number. It rang three times. "Hello?" It was my mom. "Mom? Its Nally." I said with a smile. "mi hija!" (My daughter in Spanish)

My parents are Puerto Rican. They still live over in Georgia.

I heard the happiness in my moms voice. A tear fell down my cheek. "It's good to hear your voice again mom..." I wiped a tear.

"I'm happy you called mi hija." she said. "Lots of crazy things happened over here mom" I laughed. "Really?" She laughed. "Ya. But mom..." I said "Yes?" I took a deep breath. "I'm coming home."
