We were in the middle of a hunt. Sam, Dean, Cas, Gabriel and I. We split up so it would be easier, but let's just say it didn't work out too well. We all got separated in the forest, now it was pitch black and raining heavily. I was with Gabriel, I assumed my brothers were with each other and had no idea where Cas was. But that wasn't even the worst part. The monster, creature... thing. Whatever it was, was somewhere in this forest with us. It was like a more terrifying version of Slenderman. Gabriel was walking a few steps ahead of me when I slipped on some mud. I lost my footing and fell, causing me to scream a little which caught the archangel's attention. He jogged back over to me "Y/n, are you okay?". I nod "Yeah, I... I think so". He nods "Come on". He helps me to my feet and we start walking again. He moved a little faster than me, so I grabbed the sleeve of his jacket making him pause again. He looks at me as I sigh "Gabriel, I'm scared". He cast his gaze to the ground for a moment before giving me a small, reassuring smile "It's okay, sweetheart. You'll be fine". I frown "What if we never find them again? Or run into that... thing". "Y/n, we'll find them. I promise and if we do run into it, I'll protect you" He replies softly. I nod a little, feeling my hand tremble. He noticed since I was still holding on to his jacket and sighed. I could see the gears turning in his head as he thought about what to do "Okay, honey. Come here, let's just take this one step at a time, alright? I'm gonna get you out of here. I may not have my grace, but I can still keep you safe. And to do that, you have to trust me". "I do trust you, Gabe" I reply. He smiles "Good". He gently squeezes my hand "I won't let anything happen to you, I promise. Now, come on. You can hold on to me if you want, but we have to keep going". I nod, gripping onto him a little tighter "Okay".
We continue walking through the trees and dark foliage. He kept me close to him and I could feel his body heat even through his soaked clothes. It kept me a little warm, but I was still freezing and drenched from the wind and rain. I noticed that he glanced at me every few minutes or so. It seemed like he was getting worried about me as he rubbed my arm a little. I was still nervous and jumped at every little sound, but he silently calmed me a little without even saying anything. The deeper we went, the more suspiciously quiet it got. Which made me nervous again, so I just started to talk. Mindless babbling, but I had to. It was too quiet "You know what's creepy about Humpty Dumpty?". He furrowed his eyebrows "What?". "The nursery rhyme, Humpty Dumpty" I reply. He nods "Right, yeah. What about it?". I shrug "They never said he's an egg". He took a moment to think about it "Oh, you're right". I smile slightly "I think we should all be thankful that anti-thunder storms with flashes of extreme darkness followed by loud, high-pitched screeches don't exis-". Gabriel suddenly grabbed me and ran to hide behind a thick tree and he presses me against it. "Gabe, what the-" I start, but he quickly covers my mouth with his hand "Shhh, shh. Don't speak, sweetheart. Stay here". He stepped away from me about to pull his angel blade out, but I stopped him from going anywhere when I grabbed his jacket. He looks at me in confusion. I shake my head, tugging on him a little. He seemed to understand and his expression softened, but he still looked conflicted. Then he sighed quietly and nodded.
He didn't seem to mind being close to me, so I pulled him back to where he was before. He puts his arms around me and that's when I heard what we were hiding from. It was the creature we were hunting. Its deep, intimidating growls grew louder. It was more like an animal hybrid than an actual monster. It was some kind of mix between a bear and a wendigo. It was huge and terrifying. I could feel my heart thumping and my breathing picked up a little. Gabriel noticed and silently tried to comfort me. He gently picked my hand up and brought it to rest on his chest where his heart was. I didn't know how he was being so calm. His heartbeat was steady and his breathing was normal. I furrowed my eyebrows as he gave me a soft smile. Without saying a word, he was trying to distract me and it was working somehow. By the time I had calmed down, the thing was gone. But Gabriel didn't move away from me. "You okay? I'm sorry I pushed you, honey. Are you hurt?" He sighs quietly. Despite the cold weather, I felt a warmth inside me when he spoke. I shake my head "No, I don't think so". He smiles slightly "Come on, I saw a cave over there. We should stay there at least until the rain stops". I nod "Okay".
When we get inside the cave, we sit on the ground. He sits close to me, making me blush a little. He chuckles "You're freezing, sweetheart. Come here". He takes his jacket off, then puts it around me. It was warm and cosy (and smelled like him) on the inside, so I put my arms through the sleeves. I frown "Won't you be cold?". He shakes his head "I'm still an archangel, honey. I just don't have my grace. I have a built-in heater in me somewhere". "Fancy" I mumble. He grins "Besides, you are only human and could get hypothermia and die. And I have a feeling your brothers will have my head if I let that happen". I nod "That's true". He sighs "They'll be looking for you, Y/n. I hope you know they would never leave you under any circumstances". I shrug "Yeah, I know. But I think I would be fine even if they did". He raises an eyebrow "Really? What makes you think that?". "I have you with me, Gabriel" I reply. He smiles slightly, nodding as he looked down for a moment "Right".
I leaned against him before resting my head on his shoulder. "You know, I like the rain" I sigh. "You do?" He questions. I smile "Well, not this rain. I like watching and listening to it. I don't like getting soaked in it". He chuckles, nodding "Yeah, me too". "I'm sorry you got stuck with me. Now you need to listen to my random thoughts" I giggle. He smiles "What are you talking about? I don't mind. I like listening to you, keeps things interesting". "Even though you already know all of my facts about the world because you've been alive long enough to know they are facts" I reply. He shrugs "Yeah, but you always get excited when you learn something new. It's cute". I felt my cheeks heat up, but he didn't see "Oh, okay". He chuckles softly "It's true".
_______That's when we heard a voice shouting my name.
"Y/n!".
I furrowed my eyebrows before sitting up "Dean?". I got to my feet and Gabe quickly followed "Hey, hey. Y/n, no. Don't run out there. It might not be them, honey. The thing is part wendigo". He could tell I was still thinking about it, so he gently grabbed my wrist and brought me over to him "Just wait, sweetheart". Then we heard it again, but this time it was closer and multiple voices calling for me and Gabriel. I dragged him to the entrance of the cave and I saw my brothers and Cas. So, I made Gabriel let go of me and ran to them "Dean, Sam!". I got to Dean first and jumped on him. He almost lost his balance, but quickly recovered and easily caught me. He and Sam both sighed in relief. "Oh, thank God you're okay" Dean sighs, hugging me close to him. I smile slightly "I'm okay, D. I promise". Then I let go of him to hug Sam. "Hiya, Sammy" I mumble. He chuckles softly as he holds me "Hey, I'm so sorry we let this happen. I'm glad you're safe". I nod "It's okay, none of us could've known". I pulled away from him and then felt someone's gaze on me, so I turned to meet those gorgeous whiskey eyes. Cas was talking to him, but it didn't look like he was listening to him. I smiled a little before mouthing 'thank you'. He nodded, returning my smile and then we all started to make our way out of the forest. Sam and Dean had managed to find their way out, so we followed them and the second I saw my brother's car I ran to it. Pulling on the handle, I whined "Dean! Open the door, open the door, open the door". An inhuman sound left his lips "Y/n, no! Please stop. You could chip the paint, or dent it or... or break the handle off. Be careful! Y/n, no!". I rolled my eyes as he jogged over to me to smack my hand away from the handle. I pout "Let me in then, stupid". He unlocked the car and I practically dove into the back seat.
Meanwhile, Sam was crying with laughter at the look on his brother's face. Even Cas couldn't hide the amusement in his expression. But Gabriel. He was watching the scene unfold in front of him and although his eyes sparkled with amusement and there was a little smile tugging at his lips, he wasn't fully paying attention. He was still reeling from being close to her so many times and she seemed to like it too. She was still wearing his jacket after all, long after the rain had stopped. But she didn't seem to notice this and he definitely wasn't gonna be the one to tell her. She looked adorable in it.
