Three years ago

Gabriel and Y/n were hanging out in the bunker while her brothers were on a hunt. She lay across his lap with a bag of candy between them, watching TV. Little did Sam and Dean know, their younger sister had been friends with Gabriel for a while now and they were close. He was there for her when they couldn't be, making her see something in him that they didn't and it brought them closer knowing they were the youngest of very dysfunctional families.

He had a cherry lollipop and she was going through a bag of haribos. Finding a red and orange ring, it got her thinking about things. She sighs before looking up at him "Gabe". He hums "Yeah?". "What do you think about marriage?" She asks. Raising an eyebrow, he turns to look at her. "I mean, I know it's not your thing. But for other people, just... in general". "Why do you ask?" He questions. She shrugs "Well... it's a normal thing to do. People get married all the time, have a family and spend the rest of their lives together. That's what everyone else does, it just kinda sucks knowing it won't ever happen for me because this is my normal". He frowns "Is that what you want?". She sighs "I mean, that's what I used to think. I thought I would just follow my brothers until it happens. But they both tried to get out and they got dragged back in. So... it seems like it's impossible. I don't think I want to try it myself". He looks at her, his expression softening "Just because it didn't happen for them doesn't mean it won't happen for you". She frowns, shaking her head "It's a nice thought. But I think I would be too scared anyway". "Okay, well if someone proposed to you. What would make you say yes?" He asks. She hums "Probably not a lot. I'd say yes even if they proposed with a haribo ring". She giggles, slipping the one she had in her hand on her ring finger. Gabriel chuckles "Looks good". She smiles slightly "I don't think it will happen, though. I hope it won't. I would just be afraid of them getting hurt because of me". He rubs her upper arm a little, making her look at him "Sweetheart, I don't believe you could ever hurt anyone if you tried".

Present day

I frowned in confusion, looking around for my boyfriend "Gabe?". He was with me last night, I woke up this morning and he was gone. He had left a note on the pillow beside me that said 'See you later, gorgeous :) xx'. It was a little strange. I walked into the kitchen to find Sam, Dean and Cas, but no Gabriel. "Hey, guys. Have any of you seen Gabe?" I ask. Sam shrugs "Sorry, I haven't". "I thought he was with you" Dean replies. "No... I don't know where Gabriel is" Cas mumbles slowly. A little suspicious if you ask me. I frown, then sigh "Okay". I sit at the table with my brothers, stealing a piece of bacon off of Dean's plate. Instead of whining, he smiles at me. I raise an eyebrow "What?". He shrugs "Nothing". I look at Sam and he chuckles "Don't ask me. I'm just as confused as you are". I narrow my eyes at them, then turn around to look at Cas. He seemed nervous. He was playing with his tie and avoiding eye contact with anyone. I stand up "Cas, what's wrong?". He visibly gulps before glancing at me "Um, I... uh, nothing". I furrowed my eyebrows "Okay, why are you all being weird? It's freaking me out". "We aren't being weird, Y/n" Dean replies. I pursed my lips "I thought angels didn't sweat. Something's up. Is there something I should know?". Sam sighs "No, Y/n. Just calm down, everything's fine". I walk over to Cas and he avoids looking at me.

I lean against the counter "Cassy, what are they not telling me?". He opens his mouth and both my brothers interrupt him "Cas, no!". Cas jumps slightly, but closes his mouth. I frown "What's going on?". Dean sighs "We can't tell you that, sweetheart. I'm sorry, but you'll find out later. I promise". I sigh, rolling my eyes "Whatever".

Later (Third POV)

Gabriel didn't think it would take this long. He didn't trust the boys to keep it from Y/n this long. Especially not Cas. He knew he would just blurt it all out if given the chance. Hopefully they could do it for a bit longer. He just needed a bit more time. As he walked out of the Jewellers, he threw the bag away and slipped a little black box into his jacket pocket. He made sure no one saw him before poofing back to the bunker. He walked into the main room to see Dean and Y/n running around, chasing each other with water guns. Then he spotted Sam at the library table and Cas stood beside him, looking like he was going to explode. That meant she didn't know. He walked over to Sam "Hey, did you get it?". Gabe nodded "Yeah, does she know?". Sam shook his head "No, she's suspicious though. She knows we know something and we managed to keep Cas from outright blurting it out twice". "Right, and I'm guessing this is a distraction?" Gabe replies, amused. Sam shrugs "Dean's idea".
