Chapter 23 – Revelations

No One's POV

The next night, Tori and Jade went over to Tori's house to break the news to her parents. Tori had been there once before and met Mrs. West, who seemed rather nice. The one obstacle to Tori coming over to Jade's, was the fact that it wasn't wheelchair friendly.

The one-time Tori did come over, Jade's driver had to help wheel her chair up the front stairs. The same went for this night. Tori was impressed by the large and well-furnished house.

That night Tori was nervous, as she faced Jade's parents. Looking over at Jade who was sitting in the chair next to her wheel chair, she couldn't tell if she was nervous. Though she suspected she was.

"Jade, you wanted to tell us something." Mrs. West said.

Jade sat up straight and took a deep breath. "Mom. Dad. I'm gay, Tori's my girlfriend, I love her, she makes me happy. Any questions?" Jade then said in rapid fire fashion. However, Jade also said it with supreme confidence.

While Jade couldn't read the expression on their faces, Tori could. After a brief moment of surprise, their reactions were quite different.

Mrs. West had look of happiness, while Mr. West looked a bit more analytical.

"You seem quite sure of yourself Jade." He said carefully.

Jade promptly reached out her hand towards Tori, who gracefully took it in her hand. "Yes, I love her. She helped me begin to deal with the anger and hatred I had filled up inside of me. She is my eyes and I am her legs. It's the truth."

He quickly nodded. "I believe you. I've seen you much more like your old self, recently and if Miss Vega is responsible for you being happy again. I'm all for it."

"Yes Jade." Mrs. Vega said happily. "We fully support you. Tori's done wonders for you and she's very charming."

"Thank you, Mrs. West." Said Tori.

Jade sat there with a confused look on her face. "So, you're fine with me having a girlfriend?"

"Of course, Jade. We just want you to be happy." Her parents said nearly in unison.

Jade shook her head and muttered. "The one time I completely prepared to fight, they pull the rug out from under me and say their fine with it. That's parents for you."

"Jade, stop that! Just thank them for being supportive." Tori quickly chided her.

Jade's face scrunched up momentarily before she quickly apologized. "I'm sorry. Thanks for being supportive."

"Tori, we'll have to have your father come over for dinner some night so we can all meet. Jade did tell us about the accident and we are sorry." Mr. West said.

"Thank you, Mr. West, for being so supportive. I'll contact my father and we'll arrange something.

After that the West's spent several minutes talking to Tori about what she liked and her goals. Tori of course said she wanted to be a singer. Tori was of course happy talking about such things and her spirits had been lifted of course by the West's being so accepting.

Jade, after getting over the disappointment of not having a fight, relaxed and made an occasional comment.

A bit later Jade and Tori were in the car being driven home. As soon as the pulled from the curb Tori looked at Jade.
