TW: Brief mentions of death!!
A small trail of footsteps echoed through hotland. A small head peaked out from royal scientist's lab, slowly exiting.
The figure made their way past the water cooler, their pace slowing down. They stared at the cooler far longer than they intended.
They placed this here for her. Undyne. She could barely tolerate the heat. Of course, they denied placing it here when Undyne began to query its arrival.
Their feet stung against the warm surface of the Earth, yet they ignored the pain as they made their way to the entrance of hotland.
The text on the welcome sign spread out across the wall had stopped moving, half of the frozen text cut off. After all, that small human was not welcome.
The figure tugged at their coat. It was stained with various substances from a number of experiments. They didn't have the energy to clean it up.
They never did.
The figure stopped once they exited the cave. They stared longingly at the top of the cave. Occasionally, Alphys would be 'forced' to meet the fish outside of hotland, where she would take down notes while the fish would practice sparring.
Not that she would ever admit it, but during those times, she enjoyed her presence. Her company. She was never able to focus on her work, her eyes always shifting to glance at her figure.
She never knew why she was so interested in the fish, why she was never able to concentrate when she was around.
This never happened when anyone else was around. It puzzled the scientist. Only when she discovered her true feelings for Undyne, had it been too late.
The lizard sighed, leaning against the rocky wall, sliding down.
"D-do you remember this place..?" She stuttered, pulling her glasses off of the bridge of her nose, allowing them to fall in between her fingers.
"Y-you used to let me bore you with all my anime rants all the time..." She let out a shaky laugh, her head landing roughly against the rocks.
She groaned, scowling at her idiocy. What convinced Alphys to come out here to make such a confession was beyond her. Especially since she knew that the small human was not too far from this location
After days spent of trying to find their exact location had she managed to find the human wandering through the dump. Her shoulders tensed as she watched the human, her mind drifting back to the memories that she shared with her dear loved one.
Her dead loved one.
"...Why did you have to be so reckless. S-so stubborn?" Alphys held her head up high, struggling to hold back the tears that threatened to run down her cold scales.
"I-I had things u-under control... Why did you-" She puffed, noting her uneven breathes. She placed a had onto her chest and patiently waited until she could feel the air returning to her lungs.
"...Papyrus misses you. E-even though he won't admit it, it's clear. I'm sure Asgore has heard of your... departure too.
"I also miss you." At those words, she let out a shaky breath as tears poured down her cheeks.
"I miss you, I miss you, I miss you. This - This isn't fair. It's not, this-" Her hands darted to the sleeves of her old coat, folding and ripping the stained fabric.
She wanted to scream so badly, cry, plead, beg.
Beg for mercy. To be held by Undyne, even if it was temporary.
