Saine Neane
Renee's POV
This is the second time today I have been blinded by tears to the point I can't see! I pressed the button on the elevator impatiently. "Come on you stupid slow thing!" I kicked the metal door. It's taking forever. I think I will use the stairs. I just want to put distance between me and Reli.
"Hey!" He caught my hand but I pushed him away.
"Don't touch me!"
"I know you're upset. I'm so so sorry Renée but I won't play with you. I won't toy with your emotions. I just want you to clearly understand why I can't love you back."
"Go away." I tapped my foot impatiently. It's taking too long. I pressed the button again.
"Where are you even going? It's late. Spend the night."
"So that you can seduce your way into my panties?" I asked him.
The soldiers along the hallway have been minding their own business but my outburst caught the street of one or two who turned to look this way.
Reli pushed his hair back. He has done the hair thing and for the first time I'm not melting away. Perhaps the foolishness I'd fading and reality is setting in.
His patience is fraying. "It would be easier for me to lie Renée. It would be easier to tell you I love you. I can say anything to get you to marry me or even seduce you to bed. But I'm being honest with you. I don't know what Xanth is telling you but it's no true."
"So you have never had a one night stand in your life? Flings? Hit and go? Bam wham bye bye ma'am? You haven't done that before?"
"It's different with you." He answered calmly.
"Oh yeah? How? How is it different?"
He took hold of my face and he crashed his lips against mine. It's either I'm daft or I am losing brain cells every time this man kisses me. He is an impediment to my thought process. He instigates my foolish heart to race and give me false ideas. I can't think clearly when he's kissing me or even when his hand makes contact with my body. He pulled me close kissing me harder almost like we are slowly climaxing to something. His hand roughly palmed my breast. He cupped my bottom and drew me closer. It's getting heated again. I should pull away. My mind wants me to but my body is giving bin and responding.
"Oh my!" He suddenly broke away at the sound of a deep voice, his face red. I looked into the open elevator at the older woman in a bright fancy orange coat. Her eyes shifted between me and Reli. I recognize her from the surveillance. "Well, don't stop on my account!"
"Grandmother. I wasn't... uh..." He scratched his head. "Expecting you."
Reli is nervous. It's the first time I'm seeing him like this.
The older woman kept her eyes on me. "Hi." I waved awkwardly and my feet did something my mind hadn't agreed to. I ran away down the flight of stairs at lightning speed.
I heard footsteps behind me. "Young lady!" A man called out as I hurried away. "Young lady, you're not in any trouble."
It's not that I'm scared of trouble. I don't want to confront be what I am feeling right now.
My heart hurts and at the same time it's racing for him. I don't understand these emotions! I am so confused! How can it feel so good and then hurt like this?
Queen Mother's POV
"Queen Mother. Your highness. She got away.""Well this is oddly familiar." I stirred my cup of tea. "Did she leave a glass slipper?"
