Carperia
Princess Nilsa's POV
"We are going to be bridesmaids in uncle Reli's wedding!" Elsha informed me. Her sister is beside her also eager about the lack of ambition they share. This is exactly why I miss Lucas, the boy I grew attached to. I admit I had ulterior motives when I adopted him. Reli's girlfriend gave her up and I wanted to use the boy as leverage against my brother. But even when I found out he wasn't Reli's, I still kept him until he made me give him up. He had ambition."Why not the maids of honour?" I asked them.
Yes, they did not think about. I don't blame them. They have their father's weak settling for anything genes. I rolled my eyes at them.
"Will his betrothed agree?" They asked me.
I don't know this Renée. There's more to a person than a dossier. I want to know who she is and what Reli has brought into this kingdom. I knew Thalia really well. I am uncomfortable about not knowing Renée.
"Why don't we go and ask her?" I led the way. It's the perfect excuse to speak to her. I haven't gotten a chance. She's always beside grandmere or Reli, never alone for my to prey on. It's making me wonder if Reli knows what I did to his other fiancee.
The anniversary of Thalia's death is close. A year is almost done since her necessary demise. I am keeping a close eye on Reli and he's already getting emotional. I just need to make Renée insecure over a dead girl and that should stir the pot even more!
"Call her aunt Renée. We should make her feel like family!" I told my girls. They ran into her room ahead of me. I thought they would give her Thalia's but at least they had the decency not to. She's fast asleep at 11am in the morning. She's sprawled in the middle of the bed flat on her stomach. The girls looked at me with uncertainty.
"Should we wake her?" Ellis asked me.
I bent low to her height. "She does like it when people jump on her bed. Go for it!"
Ellis is eager to please. She got on the bed and jumped up and down abruptly ending Renée's sleep.
Reli is good at one thing, finding good looking women. She is not a vision of horror even in the morning. "Who are you?" She asked my daughter.
"My name is Ellis. I'm your niece!" My daughter introduced herself.
"I'm Renée. Your aunt?" She frowned. "Not yet but maybe later."
"Aunt Renée. Hi. I'm Elsha."
"I'm so sorry we woke you!" I intervened.
It looks like she fell asleep in her dress and make up. We had a dinner last night for the War Council, Dukes and Duchesses. Roe and Callie were thoroughly displeased when Reli came down the grand curved staircase with Renée holding his arm. The sparkling diamond ring on her finger spoke to ascertain her place. If I was in Reli's team I would commend grandmere for putting her in a white dress. I almost thought wedding when I saw them but it wasn't a wedding. The wedding will not happen. But that thought stayed with everyone in attendance making it clear that it's coming.
She scratched her head of messy long hair. "Nilsa, right?" She yawned.
"Yes. We haven't officially met." I offered my hand. She shook it. "Welcome to the family."
"Thank you. I'm not a morning person. Sorry." She tried to fix her messy hair.
"Neither was Thalia. Come to think of it, Reli has never dated a morning person yet he is one." I smiled at her. "What are you here? I could have bet my crown you would be in Reli's bed!"
